SUPER SIMPLE FIX:

1. Upload a dummy file (pdf, jpg, mp4, whatever file type you want) using the WordPress Media uploader, just make sure this dummy file has the exact same name a the file that is bigger than your max upload size.

2. Once the dummy file is successfully in the system, ftp to your uploads folder, find the subfolder containing the dummy, and transfer the real file with your ftp software, overwriting the existing dummy file.

Viola!! I just did this with a 52MB pdf and it worked like a charm!

codebloo is right, turn off the pretty permalinks….
…then use JJMatley’s fix in datepicker.php.

Don’t know why it works, all I care is my Calendar works now!!

Ok, I just figured it out… this is quite annoying. I disabled Jetpack in the plugins admin and viola, the Screen Options that were hidden previously suddenly appeared! Custom Fields is an option along with several others that are unchecked by default in Screen Options. I check the box and I got Custom Fields.

I’m sure Jetpack is lovely for some people but it just wasted a bunch of my time, just give me the damn functions!
