In reply to: Copy website to use it as a template for a new siteCourtney, I asked my hosting provider, Siteground, for instructions and they told me their Migrator tool would do this, so I used it and it worked great in only two steps. It copies the site to the new URL and updates all the database references with the domain name. So all’s good! I just wanted to let you know how it came out. Thank you for all you help! ??
I asked my hosting provider, Siteground, for help, and I found out their Migration tool copies the site to the new domain and updates the database references all at once. And it was only two quick steps to do it. So all’s resolved! ?? I read that Migrate meant move, rather than copy. Oh well, now I know for next time at least! Thanks for all your help, Cory!

In reply to: [Storefront] Change the browser tab text?OK, I found it! Here’s the answer for anyone else having trouble. I have installed the AIOSEO Plug-in, but I’ve read other SEO Plug-ins will give you acces to the Title tag, as well. In the Dashboard, under Pages/All Pages, the right column of the table list of pages shows a column called AIOSEO Details. In that column, you can change the title. If you have a different SEO Plug-in, it might be somewhere else, but it’s probably there somewhere.
Thank you, Cory, I’ll look! Is “merge” or “sync” what it’s called when you duplicate a site to a new domain with the intention of ending up with two different sites (as opposed to making a duplicate with the intention of deleting the original)?
Thank you, Cory, that’s very helpful, even just to know Duplicator isn’t the tool I need. It seems there must be a tool that does this easily since I can’t imagine that web designers don’t use existing sites as templates all the time. But maybe they don’t. I’ll look at the information you sent and see what I can figure out from there. I appreciate your help! ??

In reply to: Copy website to use it as a template for a new siteI appreciate that, Courtney, and thanks so much for the link! I think I’ve honed in my question, at least, so I know what to ask them. I need to know is whether, in the restoration process, Duplicator will change all the references in the database to match the new URL automatically. I’ll ask at the forum you linked to! Thanks again!

In reply to: Copy website to use it as a template for a new siteThanks, Courtney! Yes, I’ve been looking into the plug-ins and I wish i could find a tutorial that shows the exact use I have in mind in case there’s a difference in any of the steps. All the tutorials for Duplicator and the others that I’ve looked at show how to clone with the intention of deleting the original site. Maybe it makes no difference, but I don’t know for sure.
Yes, I do see a place to choose an image under Organization Logo. I guess if you don’t set it up, the plug-in picks one for you and keeps updating it as you unload other images. I hope once I set one, it sticks! ?? Thank you for your help!

Ah, thank you, Mathieu! I don’t have Yoast, but I have All-in-One SEO pack. I’ll snoop around in there!

I apologize that I’m only just getting around to trying it, but I’ve been tied up with other things and not at my computer much. I really appreciate your working this out, and the site looks so much better with just that change! ?? Kudos, kevink82! Thank you so much!

In reply to: [Storefront] Remove space around text on cover image?Thank you for your reply, Senff! I’m sorry I didn’t explain well. On the Storefront template, there’s a cover image with the title “Welcome” and some smaller text below it, also within the cover image area. I would like to reduce the space above “Welcome” and below that last line, and in effect, reduce the height of the cover image so that it’s a more narrow strip across the page. I tried adjusting the height using the handles at the top and bottom of the cover image block, however, as soon as I let go, it snaps back to being taller again. I hope that explains it better, but if not, please let me know and I’ll upload the image. Thank you for your help.

In reply to: [Storefront] Tighten line spacing?Hi RK, Thank you for your reply. I was able to target the text by targeting all paragraphs, which worked for me in this case, using:
p { line-height: 1.2; }
Yes, I’ve considered Powerpack, but so far haven’t wanted to take on a subscription. Maybe down the road I’ll want to give it a try. Thanks, again!
