  • Thank you, Thank you nicolafer. Was looking all over to try and figure this out. Appreciate you taking the time to share the solution. You are my hero!

    Agree completely with Diego.

Agreed. Slimy that one doesn’t see the ads until you test. Expected better when I saw
Joost de Valk as one of the authors. Thanks for the full explanation, wish I would have read it before I d/l plugin.

    Perfecto!
Migrated the blogs.dir folder via FTP and works beautifully.
Your product and your support are amazing.
No wonder I felt such a good vibe when I found your plugin.

As soon as a commercial version is out, I’ll buy it. Want to support development like this for wordpress!
    Many, many thanks.

    Thanks Yani,
This is starting to all make sense. And your plan is a good one.

    1. I had already started to download the blogs.dir folder from the dev server and will upload them to the migrated server.
Then I’ll check and see if that corrects the situation.
If not I’ll check the permission on the blogs.dir folder.

    2. Just to be clear. The blogs.dir folder was created during the migration import. I don’t think I made that sentence very clear in my initial email. And sites 2 & 3 folders were created with 2014>06 monthly folders. I’ll check the permissions before and after I upload the new files and let you know.

The blogs.dir folder is large and may take sometime for me to down/upload so I may not respond until tomorrow.

Appreciate your help. Get back to you asap.

    Hi Yani,
    Thanks for your reply email.
I’ll answer your questions to the best of my knowledge.

From what I understand with multisites is that the main site images/media are in:
    wp-content>uploads folder
And the subdirectory images are stored in:
    wp-content>blogs.dir

The server I developed the multisite on [dev server] has folders 2-9 with image files in monthly folders in the blogs.dir folder.
The server I migrated the site to [migrated server] has folders 2 & 3 with only a 06 monthly folder with no files in the blogs.dir folder.

Right now this is what I can see has happened:
    1. All 9 sites of the multisite were imported.
    2. On migrated server I’m missing the subdirectory media folders that should be in blogs.dir. The import did create folders for site 2 and 3 with media folder for June. e.g. blogs.dir>2>files>2014>06 They are empty.

    ************
And I didn’t notice earlier but I also have the message:
Upload folder is not writable. Export and file upload features will not be functional.

I’ve been searching on the net for that and it may be an incorrect file path that I may be able to correct in the options.php file. But I haven’t been able to fix that yet.

I hope this email is understandable. Want to include everything that you may need to help me correct the issues.
    Many thanks.

Looked great when I tried it (especially like the unattach feature) and would very much like to use it, but seems to conflict with my theme’s slider and also made my images disappear from pages and posts. Was looking for some way to be more efficient with my images and this seems like a really good call – just not with my theme.
Thanks for creating it and maybe next time.

Add me to the list as well – big time!
Here is an interesting conversation about it:
