Thanks for the reply, and sorry for taking so long to get back. Is this something we might see in the future maybe?

I appreciate your concise response, though if I may, I would like to rephrase my question, taking into account your answer provided. So the plug-in doesn’t meet WordPresses guidelines for being listed on the repo…why is that? What guidelines does it fail to meet? It doesn’t help with the trust value when information about the plug-in isn’t shared.

That’s what I mean when I say it’s hard to trust, as WordPress’s guidelines are in place to not only promote open source, and a overall free and fair market for all, but a place of safety, if I may use that term. People using the repo know that the plugins and most of the time the distributors, have been vetted for the repo, and be used safely without harm or danger.

As for discussing the plug-in on this site, well, you feel comfortable with linking to, mentioning and yes, promoting when able, the plug-in, so you open yourself to discussing it. If you would prefer not to, that’s perfectly fine, but then dont advertise and link to it either. Perhaps not the best solution for you, I know, but then you chose to move the plug-in off site to begin with.

I noticed as well that you avoided the section regarding notifing users of such a drastic change in what had become for many, a much required and depended on plug-in. If you choose not to, that’s fine, though I am still.curious as to what the reasoning behind that actuin was. You had to know the effect that would have, people running the update, as we are all essentially trained by the software to do, only to find it essentially non functional and telling us us if we want to use it, go outside our trusted comfort zone or pay. Would have really been so hard to simply put out a minor update that did nothing but tell people of the upcoming change? I mean I’ve written code that produce a simple message box notification in less than an hour, and you guys are pros at this, could it be that hard?

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to respond.

I just came across this looking for something to help with a giveaway I wanted to do, not something I would do very often. I wanted to update that the link to the “Free Plan” listed in the comment above does not give any information about a free plan, it just links to the paid plans comparison page. Nowhere on that page does it state anything having to do with a free plan, or that one is even available. this i’m afraid is a blatant attempt at misleading. It’s fine if you don’t want to offer a free plan, a lot of the big companies out there don’t…but don’t offer one, talk about it, provide links etc, and only provide the info to sell your paid ones.

Just my two cents, though I will say that other than that, the very polite and business like way the issue was presented by the original poster, and the very passive aggressive and almost patronizing way it was responded to have changed my mind on using it.

Hi, I wanted to update that it appears the issue is in fact still there. basically, when Ultimate Member and Popup Maker are installed and active together my site gets stuck behind a bunch of 302 redirects. De-activating either one fixes the issue. I tested them with other plugins, and by them selves, as well as had my hosting service go over everything server side to make sure the issue wasn’t something there. Any help with would be great. And yes, I checked all the setting for UM to make sure the correct pages were selected and that correct page permissions were set to be viewed. Thanks again, and patiently waiting…

HI, thanks for getting back to me, sorry it took me so long to get back to. Just wanted to let you know, that in working with the developers from Popup maker on a separate question I had, the issue resolved itself. How, I’ll be honest, I’m not sure, though my best educated guess would be that a hiccup occurred at some point and some of the Ultimate Member database tables/entries had become corrupted. I noticed this after uninstalling it as a test, and there were tables that we left behind when they were supposed to have been removed. Re-loading the database with a working clean backup resolved the issue and all works well now.

Quick update for information purposes, turns out I did have one other plugin active, I must have overlooked it. It was the Popup Maker plugin. I disabled it, and everything worked. Now, before the blame gets laid on it solely, I want to let you know, that if I have Ultimate Member disabled, and the other active, everything works fine as well.

Both plugins work with all other plugins, just not when they are both active together. Retested using the Twenty Seventeen theme, and only those two active, and sure enough the issue occurs until one or the other is deactivated.

There is definitely something between these two preventing them from playing together. I have contacted the developer of Popup Maker to make them aware and they are looking into it as well.

You may mark this as resolved if you like, I’ll not bother you anymore with this, and if I am able to get results or information on my own I will make sure to forward it along to you for your information. Thanks again for the help you were able to provide, and have a great day.

I just updated to the latest version of UPG on my live site, issue persists. Per the information you mentioned, I decided to, again, create a clean install on localhost server, latest version of WordPress, your plugin and the popup one. No other plugins installed, just those two. And everything using it’s default install settings. And yes, everything works just fine when they are installed and activated next to each other. As I mentioned, the issue is when they are used together. If I create a popup using your shortcode for either the image or video post, or if I just link to the page content, the issue appears. No other shortcode or content causes this issue, only yours. As for the other developer, I have actually been in daily contact with them since I first mentioned it to you, they have been actively exploring all options, including downloading and testing out your plugin to find the conflict, I had hoped you might be just as interested to find the cause, or at least definitively rule out your plugin or shortcode. At this point I feel this as basic a setup as I can possibly get to show that the conflict between the two exists, and that testing needs to be done by both parties to find the issue, if you are concerned in doing so, whether you do or not is up to you. As you say, they work just fine with everything else I’ve tried, unfortunately for me, i require them both and am only one person requesting a fix to this issue rather than a large user base. What you do is up to you, I will continue working with the other plugin devs, and if you do need something from me, you can let me know.

Since it has been three days now with no new responses, I took it upon myself to do some more testing, and with the help of the popup plugins developers I was able to narrow down a more specific action that causes the issue. the issue only occurs when using the popup plugin to create a popup of the image and video upload forms (whether using the page or shortcode issue is the same). the popups do not need to be assigned to the menu or used, just creating them is enough to trigger the issue. It only happens when using those two forms. And yes, the popup plugin does not use FontAwesome fonts, but through testing with them, it happens regardless of the font package use, i tested with dashicons an genericons as well and the same thing occurred. Also, it seems that while the issue may occasionally not occur on some pages, It will always happen on the UPG Main Gallery page. Anyway, I will continue to wait for a bit and see if you have any new information, and if this cannot be resolved, I am afraid I will just have to abandon both plugins and find some alternative, as difficult as that will be.

Sorry for reopening this here, but I wanted to update with what I have found, and couldn’t see how to update my ticket at your other support site. I will post it here while I wait for a response on the ticket…

While waiting for an update I did some more testing, and can now conclusively say the issue is a conflict between the two plugins. I have been able to not only recreate the exact issue, but using basic, standard steps supported by each plugin, can reproduce the issue over and over. The steps to do so are as follows:

After both plugins are installed and setup, use the popup maker to create popups for the Post Image and Post video forms (linking page or directly using shortcode doesn’t matter, both have the same result). The popups don’t need to be assigned to a menu, or even used, just creating one of them will cause the blank square icon issue, and deleting the popup will immediately correct it.

As I said, its not a case of one plugin working and the other not, both are doing their job just fine…just neither will work together in their intended fashion together.

Hope this helps in some way.

Submitted ticket at the listed support site referencing this post. Thanks again, and will be waiting to hear from someone.

My apologies for having to reopen this topic, but as it turns out the issue is still there. I have no idea why it did not present itself right away, but regardless, it is there. Again, when both plugins are active, the icons turn into empty squares, disabling one or both of the plugins resolves this. As a final test, i used three different browsers on two separate machines to view the site. issue appeared across everything, and was immediately solved by disabling either plugin. While I do not believe there are an errors in either plugin as they both function perfectly fine, for me they simply cant be used together. To be safe at this time until something is figured out I will be leaving both disabled and finding other options. I have attached a pic of the issue for reference.

Just installed the latest version of the popup plugin (was released 10 hours ago) and the issue seems resolved. So maybe was just some weird conflict in the coding of the previous versions that was changed in this one. Anyway, thanks for all the help and support in getting this figured out.
