well, i did switch to the vanilla 2020 theme which also did absolutely nothing for me. i’ve already done tons of conflict testing. there are no plugins enabled except WooCommerce and the jQuery Migrate plugin from WordPress. are you seriously telling me that your Storefront theme is somehow more stable than Word Press’s own default 2020 theme?

here’s what i see when i check on the status of the database upgrade:

this was taken fairly soon after starting the database upgrade but it looks exactly like this after 10 minutes at this point, and that’s extremely unlikely on a site with 100 pictures and 12 products.

so if you’ve got a better suggestion than basically to do the same thing i’ve already done, let me know. because this is really getting frustrating just doing the same actions.

no – i see no errors in the JS Console tab. nothing is printing except the statement ‘JQMIGRATE:Migrate is installed with logging active’. switching to the 2020 theme made absolutely no difference, Product Data is still not visible when editing products. Database upgrade is still hanging with 4 Pending tasks. i figured the theme wasn’t causing conflict (especially in the editor) but i also assumed you would advise that as that’s standard playbook to assume conflict first.

anyway this update is still very much broken in terms of Product Data visibility and now database upgradability. do you have any other suggestions? i’m on WP 5.5.1 and WC 4.5.1.

no – sorry i don’t think this is resolved at all. i updated to 4.5.1 on the staging server with out updating WP and it looks like the Product data is still not visible.

furthermore i tried updating the database. this is a small site with something like 100 images and 12 products, and it stuck on updating the database for 10 minutes or more using the woocommerce_run_update_callback function which is never did previously. it simply should not take that long to update the database. the progress page said there were 4 tasks pending.

then i tried updating WordPress to 5.5.1 and the Product data still cannot be seen, and now the database upgrade is still stuck and says there are now 6 tasks pending.

all of this is on a staging server with every plugin deactivated except WooCommerce.

additionally my wife’s main website apparently just recently autoupdated WooCommerce up to 4.4.1 without us knowing about it and now once again we cannot see product data on her main site, just like before. i don’t believe she updated the database since that usually requires a manual update, but i didn’t think we had configured the site to autoupdate plugins.

this is most definitely NOT resolved. it seems worse than before actually.

well, the original problem was that the site auto-upgraded to 5.5, and then we manually upgraded to 4.4.1 after that. at that point the Product Data could no longer be seen. i installed the Migrate Helper plugin but it made no difference as far as i could tell. it also didn’t create any warnings like it has on other sites that were affected.

so, i’ll create a staging copy and follow your advice with that one, but if i don’t see the Product Data, i’ll be inclined to wait for a core update that more fully addresses this issue.

and i have to say the 5.5 WP update caused a lot of site breakages. i know a lot of themes that were using older versions of jquery and they were affected by this change. my hosting provider’s support queues went from 5 minute waits to an hour that whole week. so regardless of whether it was already a planned move by WP that was announced, it caught a lot of theme makers off guard when they removed that dependency.

thanks for the reply – so it’s another old jquery issue from the Aug 12 5.5 release of WP? – i actually did download that plugin earlier today but it didn’t seem to do anything to fix the issues – also interestingly the migrate helper plugin didn’t seem to flag any issues with outdated files on her site.

at any rate, i restored the older version of her site from a backup (it’s still 5.5 though), so i’m inclined to wait for the core update at this point. we’re on 4.33 i believe.

well i did the rollback but the shortcode rendering problem is still present, so i’m not sure what the issue is, unfortunately. i wish you luck!

hi there – having exactly the same issue with shortcodes but i did not have this issue a few months back. so i am suspecting it may be because the plugin is not stated as supporting WordPress 4.7.2 (latest). i’m rolling back to 4.6.3 and will let you know if that fixes anything.

update – i’ve followed some advice and gone to WP Settings to re-save the permalink structure, as that has been known to solve issues with WC links. no joy.

DEBUG is turned on to true already in config.php, but i can’t find the log file, or WP doesn’t think there’s an error if so.
