I have since decided to link to internal info pages and then launch from there with target="_blank". This topic may be closed.

I had the same issue and found the solution here:

Turn off posts on home page, but show sidebar on all other pages

I also got rid of the menu at the top as I didn’t need it. I′m still developing my site … but, anyway

I′m trying to figure out how to get the Home Page Top Widgets to set to target=”_blank” — anybody know how?
