I was having this same problem, so I disabled Jetpack. Then I went back to the page that wasn’t working, and clicked the Update button. After that, the image started loading properly.

In reply to: Jetpack plugin killed siteI had this same problem. As long as Jetpack is active my site stops somewhere after the header. I have to keep it disabled right now just so my site will work. It does this in multiple themes, so I know it’s not the theme’s fault.

In reply to: WordPress 3 BugI had this same problem except now I can’t fix it. There isn’t a home.php file in my directory and I didn’t change anything else aside from making my default page my About page. Now it says file not found and gives me the 404 page. So I tried to immediately go back and reset it, but now that option is completely gone from the settings menu. I can’t change the default page at all.

In reply to: Creating a Links PageYeah, I’ve done that once before but now I don’t see the option. When I go to Write Page, the Advanced Options show the following sections…
- Custom Fields
- Comments & Pings
- Password Protect This Page
- Page Parent
- Page Order
- Page Author
Nothing about page templates. I’m using 2.5 right now.

In reply to: Creating a Links PageSuccinct answer…thank you.
However, isn’t there a “sexier” way to do this? Something that works with pretty links, for example? I’d like to have https://eric.metze.us/links/ to work instead of https://eric.metze.us/links.php

In reply to: disable comments for a pageMaybe I’m using a different version of WP, but there is no option like that in my dashboard. The closest thing was the box that says “Allow people to post comments on the article” but when I uncheck it, nothing changes. Any suggestions?

In reply to: WordPress database error: [MySQL server has gone away]Brass tacks:
– I am NOT using GoDaddy; I am using BlueHost.
– This problem has just started within the past two weeks.
– It was happening with 2.2.1 and now it is happening with 2.2.2
– I used the Fix Database plugin and the first time I did it, there were a couple of sites that said something about two users leaving tables open.
– I ran the FixDatabase a couple more times and it fixed that problem, but the main problem is still occurring.
– The problem may be what minidak03 was referring to, but I haven’t changed anything on my sites to start creating these database looping problems.I’m not sure my post will help anyone, but I had to add my voice to the chorus. Please help…

In reply to: starting to lose hopeOkay, so apparently a ton of people were having this issue but it wasn’t anything like my problem, except for faceless105. I had some trouble, but I eventually got it to work.
My advice to anyone else having this problem: make sure that when you’re replacing wp_ with whatever_ that you make sure you DO NOT replace ALL instances. Remember, you’re just changing the table names and a couple links to those tables in your data. Do not, for example, replace instances of _wp_ with the leading underscore. Definitely make sure you change the information in the usermeta table.
I hope this helps someone from doing something rash.
