Hi,
For site visitors
Locale code and timestamp:
When you enable the Geotareting option (Dashboard -> Amazon Auto Links -> Settings -> Geotargeting), site visitors’ ISO-3166 country (locale) code such as
GB
andUS
and the timestamp of the cached time are cached in the visitor’s browser local storage for 7 days. It can be cleared by Clear Caches in the browser history setting. Or in Chromium browsers, you can view and clear the data in the local storage by opening DevTools (pressing F12) -> Applications -> Storage -> Local Storage -> {site URL}. Find the key, wpaal
, which holds the country code and the timestamp. That’s it. If you don’t enable that option, nothing will be stored.
Images from Amazon servers:
The plugin displays product images from Amazon servers and when those images are loaded, those servers are able to log IP addresses of the visitors on their side but there is nothing you can do about it.
For plugin users (site owners/administrators)
Survey information:
If they enable the “Survey” option (Dashboard -> Amazon Auto Links -> Settings -> Opt-in), when deactivating the plugin, a survey pop-up form appears asking the reason for the deactivation. If the user answers it, the following data will be sent by email.
– the reason for the deactivation
– the plugin name
– the site URL
– the WordPress version
– the PHP version
– the Database version
– how long the plugin been usedBug report:
If the user sends a bug report by checking the required “Confirmation” option (which asks whether to send the system information to help troubleshoot) from the form within the plugin via Dashboard -> Amazon Auto Links -> Help -> Support -> Report issues, the following information will be sent by email.
– typed text in the form
– attached images
– the same data found on the Site Health page (Dashboard -> Tools -> Site Health -> Info)That’s it.
By the way, there is the “Usage Data” Opt-in option (Dashboard -> Auto Amazon Links -> Settings -> Opt -> Opt-in). Even if the user enables it, nothing is collected as it is not implemented yet.
To delete plugin options from the site database, do either of the followings:
– From the Reset Settings (Dashboard -> Amazon Auto Links -> Settings -> Reset), select all the items and press Restore.
– Enable the “Delete Options upon Uninstall” option (Dashboard -> Amazon Auto Links -> Settings -> Reset) and uninstall the plugin.
