In reply to: Featured Images with BuddyPress 3 Columns ThemeSuddenly thought … if someone else finds this a year from now looking for an answer I’ll probably have forgotten what I did so … to cut it very short .. in the BP theme CSS there’s a header section with loads of if it’s Firefox, do this, if it’s IE do that etc. …. after that I just inserted a line to set a background image – the same one as I uploaded in WP as the header image. Seems to have done the trick.

In reply to: Featured Images with BuddyPress 3 Columns ThemeDid you solve this? I had the same problem with BP-Default 1.5, found your thread when I was looking for help.
Anyway, I seem to have solved it … no point in going into lots of detail if you have too but if it’s still a problem for you I might have a solution!

In reply to: [BackUpWordPress] BackUpWordPress 1.6.5 chmod 777Seems to have worked for me.
(1) On a website I had the problem with … 1.6.6 got rid of the error message and seems to have worked OK with a ‘test’ backup I’ve just run. (Info to anyone else – I had to de-activate the plugin version 1.6.5 for the system to see 1.6.6 was available.)
(2) Updated to 1.6.6 on a site that was running on 1.6.4 – don’t appear to be getting any problems … certainly not the error message I got from 1.6.5.
(3) Installed on a ‘totally clean’ site (er … I THINK it was totally clean … don’t THINK I’ve downloaded the plugin there before) and again seems to have worked without any difficulties.
Thanks for the fix … and thanks for the plugin itself. Because it works automatically in the background once it’s installed and configured, it’s very easy to forget it’s there … until you need it! ??

In reply to: [BackUpWordPress] BackUpWordPress 1.6.5 chmod 777Me too, me too, he cried.
1.6.4 worked fine. Now getting the same “can’t do it till you create the directory and make it writable” message that Roswebnet describes.
??
Oh .. using version 3.3.1 of WordPress, which I guess would be helpful for you to know.

In reply to: [Link Library] [Plugin: Link Library] User submissions not workingNot sure if this helps or not, but for what it’s worth …
I was also having problems with links not being submitted. Kept saying that the captcha form was answer was blank or incorrect, even though I tried several variations of both the visual and custom ones on and off. Bizarrely, this was happening on the second library I’d created, while Library 1 worked fine. As far as I was aware the second library was an exact copy of the first, except that the wording on the submission form for that one was different. I created a Library 3, copying 1 again, and this works fine for submissions. (Haven’t yet changed the form wording … maybe that’ll break things again!) Have given up trying to figure out why … just happy that it now works!
Now if only I could get them to generate a confirmation email on link submission … my reason for finding this thread! Still, if I can’t crack this one by playing, I’ll start a new and relevant thread.

In reply to: [RawR (Raw Revisited)] [Plugin: RawR (Raw Revisited)] "Broken" VoteI should add that not getting it to work MAY just be me, and MY limitations or stupidity. So it shouldn’t stop you at least trying, at least if there are no other obvious alternatives.
I seem to recall that it was pretty easy to remove, so there are no real downsides to trying it yourself, other than the loss of a few minutes of your time if it doesn’t work for you.

In reply to: [RawR (Raw Revisited)] [Plugin: RawR (Raw Revisited)] "Broken" VoteHi David
Sorry for the delay in responding … only just logged onto email and found your message.
No, I didn’t retract my vote. Maybe you are using a different version of WordPress to the one I was using when I voted. The votes are made up of two parts – the plugin version and the WordPress version. So a plugin that works when you you use version 1.0 with WordPress version 2.9 may well work, whereas a plugin version 1.0 may not work with version 3.2.1, which is what I voted for, and which still comes up if you choose this combination.
I didn’t get the plugin working, so in that respect it’s still an issue. I can’t honestly remember if I achieved the same thing using a different plugin, or if I just gave up trying to write raw code.
If you can’t find another way round, and want me to check if I found one, I’ll dig around. For various reasons, it isn’t easy to do so right now, so if you don’t need me to, I’ll avoid the distraction.
Best regards

My own apologies for the delay in thanking you for your response. Long story with which I won’t bore you.
Will await the update with eager anticipation, and in the meantime see if I can work out a temporary ‘fix’ now I know what the post link field is!

In reply to: [Link Library] [Plugin: Link Library] No problem … just praiseHi Jack
Thanks for sucha quick response!
One tiny hiccup … I can’t get thumbnails to display, even though they’ve been created. However, I saw from the forum ‘subject’ titles that this issue has already been raised so you’ve either already supplied solutions or are at least aware … so I’ll check there before whining that I can’t ge it to work!
The following are [meant as] constuctive (hopefully) feedback and suggestions for when you have th time and if you have the inclination.
- Took me quite a bit of work to find out how to display just one category … eventually found the answer in a support forum comment. I persisted, because I was sure it would be ‘somewhere’, so was determined to find it. Others might not be so pig-headed as I am! Perhaps a list of functions / variables a user can employ? Or if there already is one, and it was just me being stupid or wordblind, perhaps make it more prominent?
- The label text for ‘large description’ doesn’t centre in the cell. As everything else does, it looks a bit weird if you use that label.
- It would be great to have the facility for different ‘standard’ emails according to which library is in use, so perhaps the options on the first page should vary according to the library number, just as all the other info does?
- An acknowledgement email isn’t sent if entries are “auto-approved”. The facility to send one would be great, because it could contain ‘reminder’ info, like how to get entries deleted etc. There’s two ways to do this (probably more, but I’ve only thought of two so far) just automatically sending one when the site is input, just like if it went through a ‘moderation’ process, or a third category of “temporary approval” so that the site is added straight away but still goes into a ‘moderation’ queue, so that it can be ‘formally’ accepted or rejected later. I kinda like the sound of that option, because if there’s a day or two delay between the visitor entering their site and when an admin moderates it, the email will also remind the visitor they’ve taken the action … might prompt them to visit the site again.
I’ve got some examples of use, if you want to include them, though as the site isn’t ‘live’ yet, it’s not actually populated yet, so you might want to wait a bit before adding it.
There is the ‘standard’ list of categories then a directory of entries in each here:
https://comparewordpressplugins.co.uk/link-directory/
There’s also an example of just outputting one category on one post here:
https://comparewordpressplugins.co.uk/243/cleeng-wordpress/
The directory is output under “Real Life Examples” and the “Add Link” form is initially hidden under ‘expanding text’ underneath.
I’m planning to produce a very similar page for your ‘Link Library’ plugin (a highly complimentary one I have to say!) but haven’t yet. Maybe this would be the best example when it’s done? If you decide you want to, I’m happy to provide a ‘test bed’ where visitors you’ve directed there can also add their site, to see the plugin’s “Add Link”, “Redirect on submission” etc. features at work. I’m probably going to do this anyway, to show these features to anyone who has come directly to the site.
If you want a link to ‘your’ page once I’ve created it, just let me know either by this forum (where I’ve ticked ‘notify me’) or by direct email to [email protected]
Once again, many thanks for producing, and supporting, such a fab plugin.

And talking of word blindness (which I did in my first post, so it’s not THAT much of a tangent) editformdesign.php has a very minor typo in it … says “desination” when it should say “desTination”. I think I must have read it at least a dozen times before I actually ‘saw’ it!
Sorry, I should have added that if you want / need to post any test entries to the examples I’ve given, to understand how it’s working, etc., that’s more than fine by me ??
Thanks for the quick response. ??
When a form is filled in and the information sent to the email address and saved to the database, the post slug (maybe it’s my use of terminology? the unique reference number / address) of the post doesn’t appear to be included in the information. The ‘timestamp’, ‘user’ and any fields I’ve created is. There is a ‘blank’ field called ‘post link’, which you refer to in the documentation and which shows up in the admin panel as a column heading, like ‘user’, ‘timestamp’ etc. I assume this should be the slug that defines the post / page the form is filled in on.
I’m using the [formdata …. etc. command to output a table back to the post the form was completed on. This works fine but because I can’t specify which post’s data to show, I am having to create a separate form for each one, because all records for that form are shown. Each post has two forms (ideally three, but there’s an issue with ‘recaptcha’ displaying more than once – my / their issue, not the plugin’s!) and I’ll need to put the forms on just about every post … or at least 9 out of every 10 … so that’s a lot of forms if I can’t resolve this issue, made even more arduous because I haven’t yet found a way to copy an existing one ‘whole’, so have to create them ‘from scratch’.
This is what I’m trying to achieve …
https://comparewordpressplugins.co.uk/280/add-widgets-page/
https://comparewordpressplugins.co.uk/256/easyfileshop/
Unique data is output under “Tips and Tricks”.
The forms themselves are hidden under the expandable text ‘Share A Tip’ beneath it. At the moment, I’m achieving this by each one having a separate form, even though the forms are identical. I believe it should also be recording, and passing, the ‘post slug’, which would mean only one form, one set of information being recorded, and the output filtered on the table for each post to only show information submitted from that post.
The data on the two examples is filtered slightly, so I’ve also taken the table command off one example, so that the ‘raw’ data is output. That’s here.
https://comparewordpressplugins.co.uk/570/add-links-pages/
It could be, of course, that I’m wrong, and that the ‘Post Link’ field doesn’t contain the post-slug and I need to find another way of passing this information when the form is submitted. However, I’m fairly sure it shouldn’t be ‘blank’, whatever it is, so that seemed a good place to start.
Hope I’ve now provided a better / clearer description of the issue (because the plugin’s brilliant, and I’m determined to use it!)
[BTW, if you happen to know where I can find an answer to the ‘recaptcha’ issue, or that there isn’t one and I should stop looking, that info would also be very gratefully received!]
Came across this by accident (looking for something else) and just wanted to add my thanks … it’s been bugging me for ages! (Doesn’t help that I write in long sentences, and use commas etc. a lot to break them up!)
lol .. OK … now I need to work out how to delete a post!
