Thank you. That’s exactly why the type is larger. From a busienss perspective, as boomers begin to age, it makes sense to address their needs, since they are such a whopping segment of the American market. Also, it’s just easier on the eyes to read clear, large type. Pixel fonts and tiny type are so over with.
The Verdana font has been proven to be more readable onscreen than Arial, which, unfortunately, is the default sans-serif font for nearly all PCs (Helvetica for Macs). Georgia is more readable than Times New Roman.
Of course, you are free to modify the CSS file and change the type and font attributes however you please.
