Sorry… I made a mistake. I’m too embarrassed to say what it was. I’ll close this thread (but thank you for your replies).

It’s a strange thing regarding the use of “elementor single post templates.” Basically you create a post template, and you place a widget in there called “post content”. You can’t access anything in this widget – it just drops what you build in Gutenberg in to it.

basically the post is built in Gutenberg but rendered through the post template. I’ve managed to select other “things” like headings, paragraphs and lists using css. Just not the code block.

Thanks @macmanx I’m not bulging the post with elementor – I am building it with Gutenberg in the Gutenberg editor.

thanks @t-p , I already came across this tutorial and the code doesn’t have any impact on my post. I’m using elemntor – would that perhaps make a difference?

Marking this as resolved as its getting old. @javm would love your answer if you get round to it.

thanks @richardk23 yes with my discovery today that I can’t even make the spacing between blocks in % makes me even more reluctant to go the post template route. I think I’ll just create posts manually with elementor. Perhaps make a master post with all sorts in it, and then just duplicate that.

Thanks that is very helpful! One last question – whilst I can do it for the feature image (using the widget in the single block post template) – how can I do this for all the other images by default? Do I need to write some sort of CSS code in the single post page within Global Settings (and give the post content widget a CSS class name)…?

thank you for your reply and apologies for my lack there of – I entirely missed it.

Do you mean to say in Divi you created a code block with the SVG code and then it worked? Again I’m working in Elementor pro, but if this was possible for you in divi I’m sure there must be some similar way in Elementor pro.

Goodness… I just read a big red message here ACF | Advanced Custom Fields Plugin for WordPress. The ACF team suggests I do a manual install. Politics aside, what is better to do (or rather what is the difference), between these two options:

Option 1: Follow the manual instructions from ACF
Option 2: Install “SCF” Secure Custom Fields

Is option 1 perhaps the lowest risk because the original team is behind it? Or is Option 2 best??

thank you for your reply. My problem is that I would like to have multiple images between my written content and I want the images to be clickable. If I use the post content widget (along with adding my content in Gutenberg) – how do I format the image widget(s) so that some are clickable to expand?

A second example, Also, some posts require embedded YouTube videos in between the written content – as I don’t see how to do this in Gutenberg – what do I do?

A third example is that between my writing I would like to add a code block. But not for all posts, sometimes I want 2 or 3 code blocks. If I am constrained to Gutenberg and a single post template – how do I do this? … because to my mind everything is now “stuck” in the single content widget?

Is it a feasible solution not to use a single post template, and rather just duplicate an existing post and tweak it in Elementor, adding the additional widgets and changing the content? (Almost like you would do for a new page). But of course just set the featured image in Gutenberg?

Thank you once again. I’ve really been struggling with this. My posts vary widely in what elementor widgets I’d like to use between my written content.

thank you @threadi for your reply. What about.. is it possible to limit a giff file to playing just once one initial page load instead of on scroll? Would that be easier ?

If your primary goal is to centralize your CSS, and if the CSS is ONLY for styling Elementor stuff, then I’ll argue the best place to maintain this CSS should be in Elementor, using Elementor’s?Global Custom CSS?feature
