Thank-you Mbrsolution ??
Hi Pim,
Thank-you for your reply. I did indeed end up leaving the Find/Replace fields blank. However, when I imported into my GoDaddy (empty) wordpress instllation everything worked fine except I was not able to upload any new media. I got a “could not create folder Uploads/2017/02 are you sure you have permission?” error on my Media page when trying to add a new image. When I called GoDaddy support they said to me that some value had been hardcoded and that this is a very common problem on migrations. I’m not sure what he changed but he fixed something for me and I do remember him saying something about a database. Perhaps it may be of interest for you to run through this process for yourself, these are the steps I followed:
0. Installed your plugin on my existing wordpress site https://www.myXYZdomain.com
1. Using your plugin backed up everything on https://www.myXYZdomain.com hosted on Servage to a File (no find/replace options selected)
2. Run GoDaddy AutoInstaller for WordPress on https://www.myNewDomain.com
3. Installed your plugin on https://www.myNewDomain.com
4. Imported the file to https://www.myNewDomain.com via your plugin
5. Everything seemed fine but then I couldn’t add any new Media, error (approximately) was: “could not create folder Uploads/2017/02 are you sure you have permission?”
6. Additionally, my admin email address was incorrectly “adjusted” on the website. I can’t remember exactly what it was but if you repeat the above process I’m sure you’ll see it.What about the databases name? The site that I backed up on Servage had a different database name than the (empty) wordpress GoDaddy installation I imported to. Did that perhaps cause the error?
Lastly, just out of interest – what sort of values would you want to replace in the database?
Suggestion:
It really would be helpful if you placed a few examples just underneath the Find/Replace boxes on the plugins and perhaps a nice note to tell you that this is not necessary to replace URLs (and database names?) as this is done already. Nowhere was this obvious for me and I spent about an hour trying to find out how I need to do this.- This reply was modified 7 years, 8 months ago by Michelle.

In reply to: To the WordPress Veterans: which plugin? Thanks for your quick reply Steve, I’ve looked into the repository – – there are so many options and I really don’t know how to weigh any up. Could you perhaps just give me a couple of options you yourself would be happy to use?
EDIT:
I gave this plugin a try https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/simple-basic-contact-form/And it seems to be just want I need – Simple with a Captcha and no googly.

In reply to: To the WordPress Veterans: which plugin? Thanks Steve. Last question, a GoDaddy technical support person kindly suggested that I most definitely have to have a CAPTCHA if I am going to have a Contact Form.
I’m currently using Contact Form 7, I see the recommendation is to use reCAPTCHA… but I really don’t want to have anything to do with Google. And it’s recommended not to use the Really Simple Captcha.
In short, any recommendations for a simple Contact Form which has an inbuilt Captcha with it?
Thanks ever so much

In reply to: Move WP site to another Domain HostHi – not sure why you moved my post to fixing WordPress?
This is not fixing wordpress – this is just asking for a recommended plugin to do a backup..?
Thank-you!! I would have never thought of that ??

In reply to: To the WordPress Veterans: which plugin? Thanks for your reply Steve. I’ve done some reading since posting, I keep seeing recommendations to use Jetpack https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/jetpack/
Would you recommend using this plugin to cover #1,#5 as well as #2 (ie not google analytics per say, just analytics?)
Not to worry I found it! WP Security >Dashboard > bottom left corner “Rename Login Page”
