Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Unknown User Is Now An AdministratorI tried installing the Twenty Eleven theme but I keep getting this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function register_widget() in /home/midnitca/domains/themidnightcafe.org/public_html/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/functions.php on line 388
Once that happened the same error occurred everywhere – when I tried to change themes again, when I simply went to my websites URL, anything I tried to do within the site gave me that error. It only went away when I completely deleted all of the files in the twentyeleven theme from my web hosting (or however you call it.)
Now I did not turn off the plugins before I uploaded and tried to install the theme, could that be the problem? Or did I somehow screw up the install?
I’m really terribly new at this type of thing. My webhosting company initially installed WordPress for me and I’ve never really messed with it since. Except maybe installing the current theme but that was years ago and I’ve totally forgotten everything.
In the current theme I did go ahead and turned all the plugins off but I still see the mysterious user.
Thank you for your continued help.

In reply to: Unknown User Is Now An AdministratorHas anyone heard of something like that happening before? I’m guessing its a hack because I can’t imagine it being anything else, but I’m curious if anyone else has an idea. If it is a hack what could they be doing if not changing my site?

That’s the URL. So far I’m not seeing any changes made, but you are welcome to look for any tell tale signs of hacking on it.
