While this won’t replace the Fourteen Extended plugin (which did a LOT) here’s a couple videos that help with centering the Twenty Fourteen, and with removing the left sidebar.

Just use the Fourteen Extended plugin– go to Appearance–> Customize screen,open up the Featured Content options, then put your desired # of posts to display in the grid (must be in multiples of 3 or 4)….easy peasy! ….thank you plugin author!! ??
