This thread is a little old, but better late than never…

FlickrRSS can’t do this. The flickr rss feeds contain recent images, not everything in your stream. There are other plugins that interface with flickr using the api instead of the RSS feeds and they tend to me more flexible. FAblum immediately comes to mind.

I did close the “if”, but hadn’t tried copying a working functions.php over. After doing that it worked, and I then stripped out everything but the sidebar registration bit to see if there was an extra function I was missing… and it still worked. That was the state I thought I was in before posting my question, so clearly I wasn’t spotting a typo somewhere.

I submitted a bug report about this some time ago which was closed “won’t fix”. The workaround is apparently not to use HTML comments in posts.

The same problem has already been fixed for <pre> tags, so I’m not clear on why it would be so much more difficult for comments.

Perhaps I’ll take a closer look at the <pre> patch and see if it could be adapted to work for comments as well. It was a fairly short hack. I feel like autop is overly agressive about inserting line breaks though.
