Thanks @riceooks , this worked for our site too.

Due to the bug (blank line in the mentioned file) that came with the latest update (3.24.0), we couldn’t select a category anymore, that is: it resulted in a white screen.

Removing the blank line from the plugins/simple-tags/inc/related-posts.php file solved this bug.
