While those with an active premium subscription do receive email/chat support, this doesn’t mean that we don’t provide support for our free users. We’re sorry to hear that there are slow queries appearing on your website pages. We’d like to know more about this issue and see if there’s anything we can do to help. If you could open a new forum topic on our support forums, or reach out to us directly via email (premium subscription), that would be appreciated, so we can try and investigate this further.

Usually, completing the SEO data optimization process and making sure that the plugin is up-to-date would usually help, unless there’s something else that is a plugin or theme conflict that might be causing the additional slow queries.

We understand that it takes an hour to two hours to update a post or page, which is definitely unacceptable. However, we do try to make sure that Yoast SEO is compatible with a wide range of plugins, themes, and of course, the latest versions of WordPress. Each setup is different, so we usually advocate for a conflict check, to identify if there is indeed a plugin or theme that is conflicting with Yoast SEO so we can address it. If you have the free version of Yoast SEO, please feel free to open a new forum topic and provide all of the information (like visible error messages when trying to update a post or page) and why it would take two hours before finally updating, so we can try and troubleshoot it further. If you have an active premium subscription, please feel free to reach out to the support team directly so we can check on it.

You can set an SEO title and meta description template for categories, which then includes sub-categories by default.

If you want the categories and sub-categories to have different templates for the title and meta description, you’ll have to programatically develop that with your developer. We hope you understand.

We also recently released Yoast SEO for WordPress 23.1, so please do check if updating to the latest version helps fix things.
