Ok, I figured the WYSIWYG problem out. This was something to do with TimThumb – although I’m not entirely sure what as I deactivated everything once and nothing changed, but tried again and eureka! Very strange…

The image search is an ongoing and major problem for us though. If anyone can resolve that one, I’d be eternally grateful. It’s driving me mental not being able to post from library with a couple of clicks – funny how easily you get used to this option.

It was the first thing I thought of too, but I changed back and it made no difference – the search still didn’t work.

I experimented with a number of themes in the process of updating (and reverted to the original) and the image search was broke on all of them. Not sure whether the theme change has affected it, or it’s something else entirely

Never mind, as soon as I’d finished posting I remembered I had a redirection plugin installed. Have deactivated this and it’s solved the problem. Still can’t understand why it was redirecting to start with, but at least the sites back to normal.
