Same here.
I’m on wp 2.9.1, and the whole plugin is working fine, but for the password meter (same symptoms as rexreed).
Is there someone out there who can shed a light on this?

Tried several smilies plugins, and they work fine in the admin area for posts, but not in the comment area. They are not clickable anymore. Instead you jump to the top of the page.
wp-monalisa claims to be updated for the latest wp 2.9.1, but has the same problem.
Custom smilies have not been updated for a while (compatible up to 2.3.2 and the beta version up to 2.8.5)
Same with wp-grins.
I suspect it has something to do with the “better hooks” for smilies, 2.9.1 claims, but I can’t read the code well enough to see what happens.

Are you using the Simple:Press Forum?
Look on their website; the solution is there.

Install the “Better RSS Widget” plug-in!
You can set default options (like open in new window!!), but also overwrite in each widget.

Just wait and try again later.
And remember to delete all the uploaded zip-files; every unsuccesful try will leave a downloaded file in your wp-content folder, which only takes up space on your server! (use an FTP-client or Control Panel)

Thanks. But did that, and then I get the widget, and it works.
But I want a page to show banners, and it keeps coming up empty.
In the Main Options I put “https://test.rondel.nl/ads/” in “Advertise Page URL:”.
Even tried to put the shortcode [kadom-ads-table] in the page.

So, no problem with widget, just with page.

It worked for me, too, in 2.8.3 !!!
@jf: don’t forget to save your changes separately (or write it down somewhere) because an upgrade will override the wp-includes !

I believe this part moved to the defaults-widgets.php in wp-includes.
I found it in lines 728 & 837

edit: search for: href='$link'
and replace with: href='$link' target='_blank'

As good as your solution looks, I cannot find the lines in the widget.php.
Maybe a wp 3.8 thing?

I upgraded to 2.8.2 and the plugin still works for me.

A pity, though. The built in facility gave me problems; probably because some files/folders are owned by Apache, which might be a result of the WPAU updates in the past. (guessing)
And WP doesn’t have that nice automatic backup facility that WPAU offers

Already tried that one. Author website says:

This plugin works in WordPress versions up to 2.5.1, but is unfortunately broken in 2.6. An updated version will be made available as soon as possible

And I’m on 2.8.1

That got rid of the loop, but then I couldn’t login anymore (not found).
Had to delete plugin-folder and re-instate the .htaccess.
