wpsmort thank you for your attention and assistance anyway. I ended up using Yoast as I managed to get it functioning how I wanted without getting into matters of editing files and code. Cheers.
I gave up on All in one seo pack, too many tweaks and messing around needed with code etc, to get it working. I don’t have the experience to play about with the code and try to get it functioning properly, I tried using the theme check and it just brought up loads of errors and I couldn’t tell what I was supposed to be doing or changing. The Header.php had wp_head(); in it just before </head>, however wp_title(); is not in the header.php at all, I tried inserting it after wp_head(); however it made no difference and didn’t make the plugin function correctly, not sure if I was putting the code in the wrong place. I’ve gone through endless support posts and not found any resolution.
I installed Yoast temporarily and it brought up the title tags first time with no problem, however I still have the issue though with it putting a comma and space at the start of the descriptions.
It most likely is the theme as it’s a custom template I got from Themeforest (Agriculture by CMS Masters), since all my plugins are disabled it can’t be them, so is the only alternative that I go start working with Yoast or another wordpress SEO plugin? I can’t use a different theme as my whole website is created around this one.
I’m guessing it’s something to do with the header.php or SEO settings that come in the theme itself (wild guess), annoying though as I wanted to take advantage of ALL in one SEO pack and upgrade if I could actually get it working.
Thank you for your response, I deactivated all of my plugins and the problem still remained. I am using a Custom theme which has it’s own SEO settings option, however I have this turned off so this should be no issue. Even when I tried turning it on and using it out of interest to see if the SEO settings with the theme worked, I still was unable to set the tags for individual pages and only the home page.
I also notice that the homepage description and the keywords inserts at the start a comma and space “, ” before the content which is not there on my settings.
