Ok, I just looked and they are all there. did you do that? I AM SO RELIEVED!!! I did check directly on dropbox.com when I first discovered they were missing. I checked it several times from every computer in the house (1 mac, 3 pcs)… empty. But now they are back.

All is well now!

Yes, that’s where I looked to get the back up and discovered they were all gone. No did not run a scan on the new site.

Wow, magically the sales page has changed since yesterday. I should have taken a screenshot. Yesterday, it did not say “upgrade to pro” to get all those features. It had all those features in paragraph form under the title. My review stays.

I have 14 blogs and they all have the free updraft service. They all back up to the same APPs folder on my dropbox.

Today, I moved all my blogs to a new hosting account. Before starting this morning, I had checked the updraft folder to make sure all the back ups were there in case something went wrong with the move. In fact, I looked at it a couple of times today to double-check a couple of the blogs to see when was the last time they updated.

At the new host, one blog did not transfer so I just started new. I added the domain, installed WP and Updraft, set it to backup to dropbox. But when I went to the apps folder to restore, all the backups were gone.

They were there not 15 minutes before adding the blog… but now the folder is empty.

Does that make sense?

Good points. I’m still not completely convinced. WP is not Google or FB and I don’t have a high paid team working round the clock to protect my site… I have used KeyScrambler and LastPass password manager for years which creates my 24 digit passwords. WP says my passwords are strong. We’ll just carry on! ??

It sounds like WP does not consider hiding the username important so nothing will be done to change this. Ok.

Did you know you can also find the username as well as the nickname by viewing the source code? View yours and search the page, you’ll find both there. Easy.

Having just spent 4.5 hours cleaning up 4 blogs that had been hacked — all with “strong” passwords by WP standards — I do not understand the notion that handing out 50% of the login info doesn’t matter.

Mind you, I don’t think the username is how they got in, I think it was a plugin or the theme on one of the blogs that needed a recent update (i’m usually pretty good about updating but missed one).

Still, I don’t want to go through this again. With all the talk about “do everything you can to protect your site”… then give away the username… this makes no sense to me.

It did show up. I think the hacking code was preventing it and I didn’t have all that out. I deleted all the plugins, and reinstalled (this is after re-installing the theme and WP). Then I installed WF and it worked perfectly.

It’s already locked out two hackers and sent me several alerts that people were trying to get in…

I installed WP User Avatar and deactivated gravatar. At least now, all the avatars are mystery people.

I added the correct avatars to two of the commenters in the WP User Avatar section, but they still aren’t showing up.

The problem seems to be that, even though the comments have the commenter’s email attached to them, those comments are still somehow attached to me.

I am an administrator… is there a box i’m not clicking?

How do I get WP to recognize the avatar associated with the correct commenter?

They fixed the exec() thing ??

For some reason, the photo was blurry because I used the wp in-post photo editor to slightly reduce the size. To fix, I went in a edited it down to the exact size I needed and now it shows up beautifully.

I can get back to my life again!

I had the plugin active which optimizes automatically, right?

I uninstalled and reinstalled. The older pix are still good, thank goodness! But this one I did yesterday is blurry and awful and I can’t fix it. I’ve deleted and reuploaded (while plugin was deleted) but still blurry.

I’ll call the hosting company and ask about the exec() function. Hopefully, they will know what I’m taking about ??

I have a screenshot of the media file. to the right of the pix, there are messages like:
optipng/pgnout is missing
jpegtran is missing

My problem is that it ONLY shows the sidebar.

Funny, I came to find out how to get the sidebar to NOT show… that’s all you can see.
