  • Hi Jordy!
I just have installed the plugin again…
    It’s working now!
    Thank you!

Ah! Just in case anyone have the same problem and don’t know how to fix the blank screen: I went in the ftp and just renamed the plugin. This simple change allows the site to come back and then you can go to the plugins section. You will see the plugin deactivated and you can delete it…

    Hi,
I just update the plugin as well and it lead me to a Blank Page. I am using it in a WP Multisite, using the latest version.

I am not so experienced so I don’t know how to provide details or logs and our colleague above, Gahapati. I also don’t know how to get back to the earlier version of the plugin. I had to simply delete it.

So, just to let you know.
    Best regards.

Hi Ipstenu (Mika Epstein), (and you all in the forum)

Ok, I am glad to say that I have found the problem, corrected and it works now.

I also would like to share this information because I believe it could help other people. The problem is related with a simple misunderstanding in the form when we create the wildcard in BlueHost (or maybe all Cpanel). I could only find the problem because I have found the same issue (also from a client of bluehost) on a post long ago that you, Ipstenu (Mika Epstein), have contributed to:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/sub-domain-not-access-to-the-new-site?replies=25

    So, the problem is:
When in Cpanel we enter the *, we leave the location field after “public_html” empty, since this is the choice we want. But then, just after typing the * , the page loads again adding the folder Wildcard. Myself I didn’t noticed that field being added automatically (also I wouldn’t expect it would change the location after I have already decided on that). I just saw later in the FTP a folder called wildcard. And since I am not familiar with wildcard I didn’t know if it was normal or not having that folder there: I could see in the Cpanel that the wildcard was in the root folder, but I didn’t know that it is not suppose to exist a folder called wildcard.

My problem is fixed. I hope this information can help anyone that eventually gets the same problem as I did and could find the older post linked above.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank both WPgeeks and Ipstenu (Mika Epstein) for their help. It is good to know that the problem was not inside WP and that I can move on with it.

    Best regards.
    Miro

-When I try to go to the site1 dashboard I get a “404 Error File Not Found” message.
-When I go to the address of the site1, site1.domain.com I get a slightly different page which is just a page of my hosting company (bluehost).

I have checked my wildcard. Cpanel assures me that it is installed correctly on my public_html folder.

I am trying to look in every small details. So to confirm: the wildcard should be a folder called “wildcard” inside “public_html”? (what it current is). Or… I wonder, if it should have no folder at all, and all its content should replace the content of the public_html? (files with the same name: including the file .htaccess)?

    Hi,
    Thanks for your help, Mika.
Yes, I went to Cpanel and have created a subdomain with: “*”.
Just like I have done the first time (when my installation was successful).

    Hi WPgeeks,
OK, that is fine. I understand that this post went already too long.
Also I do appreciate all the help you have providing since the beginning anyway. I thank you for that.

    – I tried to contact some friends but they are not using multisite (I was surprised).

    – Well, on my side I am still decided to go with the WP multisite. The very first time I tried I was able to instal it easily. I didn’t have any problem. Then when I went to use different domains it got confused. Now I am trying just to keep it simple with the domains, but still use a multisite. I am surprised with the problem because the actually multisite installation is actually pretty basic, just some few steps that I believe I am doing correctly, also I have done it before. I wonder if the origin of problem is not in the WP itself.

    I will keep trying.
    Thank you again anyway.

    Thank you WPgeek,
I read similar articles and most of them says that this is a personal choice and the important is to be consistent. Myself I was asking not in regarding the personal preference but the one that would eventually work on my installation.

It’s been several days I am stuck and can’t get the WP multisite installation to work. And I mean the simple installation with no addition domain or any complex feature.

I install WP multisite, enable it but then the new site just don’t load, not even its dashboard.

I would be very grateful if some one could have an idea about what can possibly be wrong.
    Best regards.

(My wild card (*.domain.com) seems right, in public_html).

    Hi guys,
I have already signed up for a Meet Up and in the end of the month I will be able to attend a meeting.

I have uninstalled WP, deleted database, empty public_html directory to start clean. I have also deleted my wildcard domain (and have created it again after I had reinstalled my WP). So at this point I have just installed the WP and enable it to multisite. I haven’t installed yet any plugin.

I have done a on click WP installation on a domain with out www.
Then I have installed WT multisite as sub-domain.

I would really appreciate if you could just help me with this basic issue that I can’t figured out why is happening:
After creating a new site it doesn’t open in dashboard.

    Ok. Understood.
Could you only let me know if I should install it on a domain WITH or WITHOUT www?
    Thanks.

In the installation of the WP (via MOJO marketplace) I have to choose between domain with or without www. What should I choose?

    Thanks Mika,
I think I will do it. I would be more comfortable with that.

But I am a bit confused about the park and add on domains. I mean I know the difference, but I don’t know exactly how these kind of status relate to WordPress multisite.

I think I don’t want none of my domains to be related only to a subdirectory. So I believe I would not use an add-on domain, right? In the tutorials I saw the instructor adding a second domain to the network as a park domain. And he was able to connect this domain with one of the site. I would like to do the same. What is often the status of a second domain in WP multisite?

So, if not a add-on domain, you said to make its own domain. When you say make it it’s own domain you are talking about making it the “primary domain” in my hosting account? (I mean in the Cpanel, not in WprdPress)?
