Not a single solitary thing has changed. NOTHING. The plugin just does not work correctly any more. I have to go to FB and refresh attachment and/or edit the post manually. EVERY time.

My BIG question is this: aside from scheduling posts, will the paid version be any better at posting the images, or will I still have to MANUALLY check every single post for the image? Because if I have to check, then there is no point of subscribing. I am willing to subscribe for this particular site, BUT if I have to still manually check every post, I will ask for a refund. I know FB is wonky, I’ve been doing this for a long time. BUT I also know that plugins are JUST as wonky and may or may not be a better product if I spend money. SO, B2S, what say you? If I try the product, do you stand behind it and will you give me a full refund if the paid version is no better than the free one?

WP does not care what any of us think. As they have said several times, if we wanted to have a say we need to be a part of the dev team. >:(

    We shall see.

Not you personally, you as in WP as a whole.

WP made these decisions. WP made a mistake.

The classic editor will work…for now… Then what?

We see the end is coming and it’s really upsetting to know that every single site I’ve got will have to be ended and restarted.

Unless WP decides to walk this back and continue with Classic and offer 5.0 as an optional upgrade, all of us are pretty much doomed.

This is not about YOU, it’s about WP and the way it treats its users.

    This thread right here.

I love how the WP team is pretty much telling ALL OF US to ‘deal with it’.

WHY are they so enamoured with this block method? Is it because WIX uses it? I really don’t understand why this is even a thing?

What I take from all of this is: dust off your Dreamweaver and get ready to head back to the 90s to be able to work with a normal text editor. Gods help us all.

Or start working towards finding the next great CMS – which is not WP.

I really don’t like joomla…but I dislike 5.0 more. One thing is for sure: this is a boon for WP developers and web designers. Since the clients will be unable to use the new editor, the web support folks will get a lot more work.

    SADLY, I am the web person for several of my remaining clients and I’m opening a new business. I will NOT have the time to deal with any of this. So all my dozen or so sites are screwed as well as my 4 clients who rely on me to keep their sites up. ;_;

I am really upset about this move by WP. I guess I’ll just have to let the sites sit and rot. I simply cannot redesign and/or move to a new platform.

I sincerely hope that a new platform will emerge from this and we’ll be able to move to it. This would be a great time to spin off WP into Classic WP and make 5.0 New WP and support both. How about have the new 5.0 a PAID one and keep classic going? Did no one think of that? If it’s money WP needs to have proper dev and support, then branch off. Then you’ll see just how great everyone thinks 5.0 is. Or not.

    Sigh.

    This is stressing me out.

    Heard.

No updates will happen on any of my sites. I don’t have the time to fix a dozen broken sites.

Thanks WP for ruining a good thing. ??

No, his words are exactly appropriate for this heinous update.

You guys decided unilaterally to fundamentally change WP into some sort of abomination of Wix or whatever UI it is you’re after. I’ve complained about it before and pretty much been told to ‘stuff it’ by WP. Your snark to us users is noted and not appreciated. If you don’t want to deal with the backlash, perhaps vet your changes more carefully. Or make them OPTIONS.

This update is a terrible idea and at the worst possible time. It’s the holidays! WE ARE BUSY. No one has time to troubleshoot your crazy update.

I’ve got about a dozen sites, with various themes that are likely to be destroyed by this horror show. AND I’m opening a business right now, so I don’t have the time to do your beta testing and/or fix a dozen broken sites.

YOU GUYS have made a mistake. Own it and make this Gutenberg nonsense an OPTION to the core WP install. The 10 people who think it’s awesome are likely working in YOUR office. MAKE IT AN OPTION.

The rest of us just want a CMS that works and we know how to use. 5.0 is NOT that. If we wanted WIX, we’d be using it. We don’t have time to RELEARN a system. We just want to get our work done. You are not accomplishing that. This is essentially a complete platform change. And it’s ill advised.

Frankly, you deserve every bit of push back you’re getting. So suck it up, buttercups. Don’t get mean with us users for something that YOU did. We have every right to complain when something that we RELY on is being trashed. Think about that before you get snarky with your users.

Me too! And it won’t even get rid of links if I remove them from the post. Nor will it correct the entry if I correct the link. It continues to show the old link.

It’s just not working very well at all.

Should I downgrade to the prev version?

This plugin has always had some false positives (.asp pages for instance) but now once it flags a link, it will never leave the list, even if it’s corrected or deleted.

    Grr.

    Hello? Anybody reading these posts?

Yup, still waiting. Mine will act like it’s logging in, then just sit there. Going back to 1.5.3 did not help. Tossing the /trunk files did not help. Reinstalling the flash file did not help. Tossing everything and reinstalling 1.5.4 did not help.

Is there an alternative to this plugin? I’d happily switch to something that is actually supported by the developers.

    Thanks!

I deleted the /trunk file, deleted/replaced the flash file, went back to 1.5.3 and still get nothing at the dashboard. I click login and it acts like it’s doing it, but the login never goes away.

I have never gotten memory errors or ANY errors, it just stopped working when I upgraded to 1.5.4 (WP 2.8.4) and none of the fixes seen on this board has worked, nor has going back to 1.5.3.

    What next?

Sadly, this is the only plugin I could find that will display your stats in the Dashboard, which is VERY convenient.

If there is an alternative, please tell me. I don’t think the developers of this plugin are offering any support for these issues anyway.

    Thanks!

    I figured as much.

    Eh. Whatevs.

    Thanks for the confirmation.

But it begs the question: why does a plugin like iCal for Events Calendar (that won’t work) get a 5 star rating?

    Gotta love open source.

    thanks again!

So, why would they take that OUT? I could drag and drop the old version! That makes no sense to me. Now I’m sad I upgraded. ?? I see no real improvements at all and this is definitely a step back in usability. Bummer.

2.7, right. After being so disappointed with this upgrade, I’ll be even slower to try another. Not to mention that I will probably have to update my theme as well, which is a HUGE PITA. It took me weeks to get cutline tweaked.

::sigh:: The downside of using CM that’s designed by committee, I suppose.

AHA! I overlooked one section of the DW settings! It’s lurking under code formatting pref, which I looked at but didn’t SEE. Now it’s fixed and I should have no more weirdness.

Thanks so much – I hope this post helps others.

Thank you! I appreciate your response. Mystery solved.

    ??

Edit: Mystery solved, but I can’t seem to get the issue resolved. I saved the files as unicode-8 w/ no BOM (which is by default OFF) as instructed, but got the same result. The only choices as far as the unicode is concerned were C,D,KC,KD. No LF. I use Dreamweaver if that makes any difference.

Edit #2: Apparently it’s all about dreamweaver. Which sucks royally, but there it is. When I took the text file and uploaded that then changed it to .css, all’s well.

So, for you dreamweaver users, no matter what your settings, it appears that DW will mess up the themes page unless you copy the css out of DW and paste it into a plain text editor.

Thanks so much for replying. I appreciate it. ??
