In reply to: [Neve] Twitter embeds working very inconsistentlyP.S. I think this has something to do with the latest update to the Gutenberg block editor, which now has twitter blocks.

In reply to: [LiteSpeed Cache] Webp Pinterest issueI am having the same problem. Maybe my comment will help get this question noticed.
Hi James,
Thanks for your friendly reply.
I don’t have any single adsense ads, just auto ads at the moment. I uninstalled SiteKit and re-added the Auto Ads code in the head. The ads are working now, but the delay between adding the code and the appearance of the ads was significant and I’m not sure why.
Anyhow, I will add SiteKit again and see if it will work on top of what I have already configured. Like I said, I like the *idea* of this plugin.
By the way, I don’t use an ad plugin. I am trying to keep my number of plugins low since I know that too many affect site speed. But I may consider an ad plugin later on if I am ever able to optimize my site to the point that I think I have some milliseconds to spare on ad plugin code. ??
Thanks again.

In reply to: Uploads directory / Consolidate ImagesThanks, @mickmel. The other problem I’m having with the gallery is that those photos that are not inside a month/year folder do NOT show up in the library even though I can see using FTP that there are many more photos inside the uploads directory. How can I make them visible within the Media Library dashboard?

In reply to: [WP RSS Multi Importer] Trying to get multiple feeds on one pageHi Allen,
I found this thread and I thought it might be what I’m looking for. Tried the solution, though, and it’s not what I wanted.
I want the ability to pull several links into just ONE post. I’ve previously used the plugin postalicious for this, but it is no longer being updated. I’d like to have, say, 10 of the latest articles pulled from several feeds and put into one post not 10 different posts.
Is that possible?
Your assistance is appreciated!

In reply to: Photos and apostrophes missing in single postAha! I think I know what happened. I did a small update yesterday – inserted a couple extra sentences into the post – via the WordPress app. I’m pretty sure that’s where it all went wrong. I just went in and updated the post in WordPress on my computer and it rendered as it should.
RED ALERT: BE WARY OF THE WORDPRESS APP!!!

In reply to: Photos and apostrophes missing in single postThanks, dkotter. The weird thing is that it is only happening in this one post – the only post I have written since I updated to 3.3. I didn’t use drag and drop images in this post, just uploaded the old fashioned way. Not sure why the apostrophes would be missing though??

In reply to: Media Gallery Moved/UnsearchableHere are all the plugins that are currently active on my site. I HATE that I have so many active. It’s as if I’ve added ones on to solve the problems the others have caused and can’t quite pare down.
If anyone can offer suggestions on which plugins are redundant or not useful, please chime in.
Now, my shame:
Akismet
All in One SEO
Better Blogroll
Better WP Security
Disqus
Google Analyticator
Google XML Sitemaps
Jetpack
MapPress
nrelate
p2pconverter (installed to address the problem of pages reverting to posts when I upgrade database)
Simple Tags
Snazzy Archives
Text Link Ads
W3 Total Cache
Widget Logic
Wordpress Database Backup
Wordpress Gravatars
Wordpress Mobile Pack
WP-Spam Free
WP Greet Box
WP Render Blogroll LinksP.S. I have NOT upgraded to version 3.3 and have not upgraded any plugins since 3.3 came out in the hopes that I can isolate the problem and eradicate it before upgrading.

In reply to: Media Gallery Moved/UnsearchableOk…this happened again. I hope that replying to my own post will move it up the queue so someone will look at it.
I think I know what happened. I’ve installed / made changes to my site italofile.com in two ways in the past couple of days. One thing I did was install the plugin “nrelated content.” It worked fine on my missadventures.com website.
I also started using a CDN. Or at least I tried to. When I went to look at my site tonight (first time today), I got a 404 error. My admin was still accessible and was on the nrelate plugin dashboard. I clicked on the plugin in reload it and got a screen that said I needed to UPDATE MY DATABASE. I did so because I had no other choice.
After the update, I saw that it had added a whole bunch of files in my posts, converted all my pages to posts, and my images could not be found. The images are on the posts, but my image library shows no images whatsoever.
Can someone help me with this? Please?
Thanks!
Melanie

In reply to: Make old posts “less sticky”Actually, I figured out the popular posts – my theme was geared to show posts with the most comments, not those that had actually been viewed the most.
But, I am still having trouble figuring out how to fix my related posts. They still show some older posts. Is there some way to set an expiry date for related posts so, for example, if I write about a certain event, that post doesn’t show up after the event is over? If not, would be a great plugin!
Thanks!
Hi design dolphin,
I appreciate your trying to help. I have contacted my host and am waiting for a response. FYI, Netfirms hosting is SLOW when it comes to customer service. Sadly, I’m afraid to even think of switching because of potential technical problems.
I have actually solved some of the problems above on my own through research on WP forums and elsewhere.
-I fixed the permalinks problem/htaccess by 1) reloading my backed-up htaccess file and 2) making sure that the WordPress and Blog URL settings (under general settings) were the same. Such a simple thing, but for some reason I had no URL under the WordPress URL line (must have been accidentally deleted. Not sure which of these actually fixed the problem, but the problem is no more so I don’t care! ??
-For my missing pages, I found that they had been classified as posts for some reason. So, I went and found the p2pconverter plugin, activated it, converted the pages posts back to pages. Then, I deactivated the plugin because it’s not something that I want all the time.
-One thing I haven’t tried lately is copying my current theme and renaming it default so that when the theme breaks it doesn’t appear to break. This has worked for me before with a few themes, but may not work with the fancy theme I have now. (Sometimes trying this results in a temporary fatal error.)
-Going to try again to activate my plugins one at a time and see what’s going on. That action didn’t do anything for me before, so I’m skeptical.
If none of these things work, I may try to reinstall manually the current version of WP. I am now using WP 2.8.4 but installed in automatically. I hate to think that an automatic install could be the route of the problem because I think this is a wonderful, time-saving feature. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Will check soon with my host. Haven’t done any of the other stuff.
Just noticed though…there is an appadmin directory with one file – index.php (looks like it calls to login.php). Have you heard of this? Is this a new directory for 2.8 and above? Seems weird.
I’ve also noticed that I’m starting to get a lot of spam even though Akismet is activated. And the same few subscribers keep coming up in the user panel. Have I been infiltrated? Maybe this is where my problem lies?
Annoying…
Thanks for your help. I’ll check with my host, too.

In reply to: Pages are missing – posts are still thereOkay…upgraded to 2.8.3 just for the hell of it. Everything looks as it did before – no pages, htaccess error, see blockquoted item above.
As far as the pages missing, how do I go back to a previous backup of my blog and restore my pages? I backed them up about 2 weeks ago.
Now…to figure out why the htaccess problem and error on line 73…

In reply to: Pages are missing – posts are still therePlugins do not seem to be the problem. I had a theme problem but am keeping it on an older default theme so I can figure out the problem.
I looked at my permalinks and see this problem:
Warning: strpos() [function.strpos]: Empty delimiter. in /mnt/w0310/d21/s41/b001947e/www/italofile.com/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 73
It says I should update by htaccess file but the coding it shows is the same in my file. (I have since changed permissions to writable but this has not changed the error above.)
Oy….lots and lots of problems. Wondering if I’m just better off hosting on wordpress.com. I’m tired of all these tech problems – they take me away from my real writing.

In reply to: Constant errors with strpos in WP 2.8Hi there,
This is the exact problem I am having. Could you tell me what you mean by:
do you have a trailing forward slash after either your site or home url settings?
I looked in my settings in my admin panel and found no forward slash in my blog address URL. Am I looking in the right place?
I need to fix this among many other problems on my site. I think this may help solve some of the other ones though.
Thanks,
Melanie
