There are no error messages relating to plugins, so it isn’t that. And I have had no caching enabled. I had Super Cache installed but not enabled. I deleted it, reinstalled it, and then enabled it. None of thesestates made any difference to the way the Media Renamer behaves.
As I said in my second post downgrading to 4.6.5 fixed the proble. Since then I upgraded again, which brought the problem back, and downgraded again, which fixed it.
In doing this I noticed one more thing 4.6.5 ALMOST works properly. It changes the file name as it should but it does not alter the permalink. The date on which the images stopped having their permalinks changed to fit the altered filename was March 23, if this helps.
Some more info:
1. After writing the above I clicked on Advanced View and downloaded version 4.6.5.
2. I deleted the current version and installed 4.6.5.
3. Everything in the interface returned to normal. All images were visible.
4. I uploaded an image and used 4.6.5 to rename it. Everything worked properly and the file name changed as expected.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Media Library Folders] Not showing folder treeThanks Alan, that worked. I have access to all my folders again.

In reply to: [Media Library Folders] Not showing folder treeAlan,
I am having a similar problem except I am not getting the notice. When I go to MLP I see the uploads folder but none of the subfolders. This used to work flawlessly a few months ago.
By way of experiment, I tried creating a new folder called boo and that did appear, both in MLP and in the tree view of the site in Filezilla.
Should I email you too?
Cheers
Owen
