Ok! I found the solution.

I changed the WordPress Settings/Media folder settings from full address to ‘wp-content/uploads’

The world is now a better place! Thanks for your help!

Tried all the settings . . . Nothing worked ??

I have opened a support ticket with server host (servint).

I’ll report back with what they say!

The upload folder was created by WP. Seems that the last time I uploaded an image was Dec 2010. Everything worked fine back then.

So deleting the uploads folder is not an option because the site already has several images in the media library.

Here is an image of the current permissions of the upload folder.

This is an existing website that we developed over 3 years ago. Just recently updated the plugins and WP to current versions.

So, wp-content/upload/ already existed.
I did manually create ../2014/05 structure and tried setting the permission to both 755 and 777 with no luck.

I am off to test a couple of other older sites to see if the same challenge exist. I report my findings within a couple of hours.

I am experiencing the same issue.

I have checked the ownership and permissions(755)

I have also tried to set permissions to 777 with no luck.

I went and read the thread. It was helpful. I tired their suggestions. Did not work! I tinkered with the “Connection Information Screen” and determined that if I set the Connection Type to “FTP” the upgrade was successful.

If I had the Connection Type to “FTPS” I would get the above error message.

I generally do not use just standard FTP, I did get the upgrades.
