I solved my problem with the help of a bulk editor I have been using.
I filered all variations, which had the deleted attribute and replaced it with a newly added one. Apparently attributes don’t get completely removed from DB.

I do, but the latest is 2-days-old ??
So it’s not lingering somewhere in the DB? If I open a product, which used to have it, there is an empty space in product variations where it used to be. Lets say a product has green, yellow and white variations, I deleted the white one and now the list of variations is green, yellow, (any).

Got it resolved with the help of the author. I just had to change the menu class.

This is exactly the language I’d like to hide, but still nothing.
I tried menu-%d1%80%d1%83%d1%81%d1%81%d0%ba%d0%b8%d0%b9 and with menu-русский (which these %s and numbers stand for), but no luck.
The second solution, you gave me worked, but not on this theme. So I opened a topic on Virtue’s support forum. Hope I get it solved somehow.

This worked out in Twentyfourteen theme, but not on mine (Virtue), so I’d guess it’s theme related ??

Thank you for your answer, but it didn’t work out.
I deleted the label in that language and instead of hiding the language I got “Language Menu” (not changhing with the selected language) where usually the “language” slug is.
