    thanks for your best wishes

as i mentioned before i’ll keep an eye on wordpress. It’s just that I could not make it work and the hints on how to get rid of the problem did not work – and the example of b2evolution shows that making use of the referrers is not really necessary in order to authenticate the user…

    til soon

    have fun

    hmmm

well, as i said i already uninstalled an tried b2evolution (which works just fine with firewall on)

i think i’ll give wordpress another try once i have my site up, cause right now i want to just keep my deadline. Also i am too frustrated for another quick installagain-tryoncemore

but this post was merely to discuss the principle of checking the referrers for authentication. As far as I know it had something to do with a security hole discovered by a certain sencer.

I just doubt this was a godd decision. Will this be kept on in future versions?

    Hi

configuration at home (where i first encountered the prob):
    -XP
    -mozilla 1.7.x
    (about:config->
network.http.SendReferrer was set to 0,1,2 – none of it did the job)
-ZoneAlarm personal (did not find a privacy tab there which was suggested for changes in the docs so i switched it off – with no effect)
    – free-av antivirus detection

    tested at my office:
    XP
    ie6
    zonealarm
    etrust antivirus

again i switched off zonealarm and followd the instrucitons given in the docs for adding my site to the trusted ones

    no effect

it’s so weird and i am *so* frustrated cause wp looked exactly like the thing i wanted and i was just getting ready to add content, but now i cannot use it….:(

P.S.: i just went to opensourcecms.com and tested the wp demo installation and it would let me e.g. set toggle the visibility of a link, add a link and delete it – which does not work at my own site…its gettin stranger and stranger

    ok
i can add a link category
i can delete a link category
i can neither add a new or delete an existing link (get the referrer thingy)
i can add a category, but can not delete it (referrer msg)

    any ideas?

    hi

tried both – did not work.

Actually i am quite desperate cause right now i can’t do anything at all with wordpress due to that problem.

Tried to add link – “enable referrer…”

All the time my firewall’s not even switched on! Furthermore, I set “accept all cookies” just in case…

What kind of problem ist that? And doesn’t wp use session cookies for authentication?

    confused…

    help

    *sigh*
