In reply to: Not receiving automated notification of new comments pendingI’ve been searching for a solution for this, too. So far none have worked. Have created a wordpress@mydomain address, but… still nothing.

In reply to: Using Post data in another (not WP) html pageI guess this question was inopportune. Probably best to wait for the 2.8 turmoil to subside.

In reply to: vision impaired visitorsThanks, maybe I can deconstruct the MobilePress and (I think) WPTouch plugins and see if I can figure out how they do it.

In reply to: vision impaired visitorsThank you. I appreciate your effort. Changing the size of the text on my site is not really my issue. I would like my visitors to be able to call up an alternate, no frills, theme using the same wp data without having to have a do a second wp installation and manually duplicating data. Browser zooming works fine, but that can then require a lot of scrolling – up and down, left to right, right to left. That gets tiring.
I guess what I’m really asking is:
How can I have two themes using the same data? And, how can I make it possible for visitors to switch between themes?

In reply to: So far 2.7 is one giant huge headache.Just for the record, I’ve recovered from my original snit. Have deleted my entire test site and done a clean install and will start adding things in to see where the problems lie. I’ve had such an easy go with WP that the shock of it not “just working” (sorry Apple) overwhelmed me. Will post if I find anything helpful to others.

In reply to: WordPress 2.7 Editor not workingSince it was my test site. I deleted all wp my files, I deleted every file in the test directory. Then I reinstalled. So far, so good. I’ll be adding things back in one at a time and let the forum know if I find any conflicts.
I have way too much stuff going on at my main site right now to risk a disruption, so will not be doing anything with it until mid Jan. Thanks.
I seem to have gotten over my initial shock that a WP! update didn’t work.

In reply to: So far 2.7 is one giant huge headache. The biggest problem I’m having is with the writing new posts. The visual editor doesn’t work – as on not at all. No menu, can’t even find the cursor in the write field.
Everything has to done in the HTML editor. When I save the whole edit field disappears. Can’t edit old posts, can’t create new posts. And this is my test site. I keep it as clean as possible. I’ve read through the posts on the forum, tried all the suggestions, still can’t write. My site has multiple authors, no way I can ask them to put up with this kind of frustration. We’re writers, up until now we’ve been able to manage WP with very few hassles. Not being able to write is a huge hassle.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: What are the disadvantages of not upgrading to 2.7?At this point I would say that the down side of upgrading is greater (lots of folks seem to be having problems with the visual editor – making it impossible to continue working your site) than the upside of upgrading and all the new bells and whistles. I upgraded on my test site, but no way am I going to risk my main site. I’m not a geek, nor a code jockey, nor a php wizard. I need my site to work with a minimal amount trouble-shooting.

In reply to: WordPress 2.7 Editor not workingHelp? I upgraded to 2.7 on my test site (thank goodness) and cannot get the visual editor to work at all. Tried the all the suggestions from azaozz – but zip. All that seems to work is the html editor. The visual editor has no menu and won’t accept any input. NONE. Serious headache this. What’s going on?
And the suggestion of MichaelH is ridiculous. A stable upgrade should not call for a complete delete and reinstall. That merely sounds like an excuse for releasing 2.7 too soon.
Here is a screenshot of my “so called” visual editor.
