    Hello Joseph,

I installed the delete options plugin and reinstalled Jetpack as you recommended. Attempting to reconnect the user account has the same result as detailed in my previous posts unfortunately.

I don’t really understand why the logs you mention would show our site as being private. It has been online the whole time since I started this thread, and has not been placed in maintenance mode at any time. The only times I imagine it would briefly be in maintenance mode are when we’ve been updating plugins – as you know this process usually only takes a few moments.

If unintentionally being in ‘private mode’ is a possible reason for Jetpack being unable to reconnect the user account, then it clearly needs looking into but I wouldn’t know how to diagnose that. Do you have any advice?

    Hi,

I’ve reinstalled Jetpack as suggested, then tried to reconnect the site and got the same result. After approving the connection, I was taken to a page on WordPress.com that says ‘you don’t have any sites yet’. Back on our site, the Jetpack dashboard showed the site as not connected to Jetpack.

Just to rule out a browser issue, I cleared the cache and all cookies, tried the reconnection process again and unfortunately got the same result.

Is there anything else that we could try?

    Hi Joseph,

Thanks for the response. I’ve tried these steps many times but I’m not getting anywhere. Visiting Dashboard > My Jetpack shows that there is no connection. I click on the ‘connect your user account’ button, which takes me through the connection process. The correct account is logged in, I approve the account, and am then taken to a page that says ‘you don’t have any sites yet’. Returning to the dashboard shows that there is still no account connection.

Clearly there is a problem with connecting the site, and I hope you can suggest something else to try.

    Hi Emily,

Thanks, that’s great. The stats are showing up but for some reason I don’t have access to the subscriber list. In Jetpack > Settings > Newsletter, it asks me to ‘Connect to manage your subscriptions settings’. When I do that, using the WordPress.com account that I was using on the previous site, after clicking the Approve button I just get a message saying ‘You don’t have any sites yet’. I’m not sure where to go from there to establish the connection between our site and my WordPress.com account.

And yes, we will be redirecting once the new site is fully approved and functional.

    Hi Emily,

How are you getting on with this issue? It would be great to get an update.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi Emily,

    Thanks for the reply.

    I’ve disconnected and reconnected Jetpack.

On trying to update to version 12.8.1 I get the error ‘ERROR: this plugin requires a newer version of WordPress’

But we can’t update WordPress at the moment, as our hosting is provided by a university which has yet to upgrade the hosting provision to the necessary level (the PHP version is currently out of date).

The cloning site was taken offline a while ago. The URL was https://markliebenrood.com/mmlab/
