Thank you. I have tried changing the settings in those fields and they do not control the background of the excerpt area.
They do allow me to change:
? The background color of the image
? The hover color of the image
? The color of the icon(s)
? The hover color of the icon(s)
? The color of the excerpt text
All of which are helpful but are not the thing I am asking about. I want to be able to change the background area that the title and excerpt are displayed in. Shown in my screenshot here:

Any suggestions? Or ideas why when I update it in the WordPress customizer or your Custom CSS field your base code continues to override it?
