It looks like you have changed the images to link directly to the post. If you decide to switch bucket the lightbox view, you can hide the share button with the following custom CSS:
div.share-button { display: none !important; }

Unfortunately, the homepage template will only display your posts in order from Newest or Oldest. You could limit the number of posts on your homepage and then order them with the following plugin:

Unfortunately, you are correct in that there is no way for the gallery to run on pages rather than posts. It would require a great deal of modification to the template files.

Although I have not tested, one of the following plugins may help you convert much more easily.

You could always upload a screenshot to any photo sharing website and provide a link to it. You could also provide a URL of your website and I can take a look at how it is set up as well as debug any errors that may be causing an issue.

Unfortunately, the paragraph content on the hero image does not support HTML. In theory, lazykins way of adding content is possible, although I have not tested the code he provided.

You could target the menu with custom CSS, or simply navigate to Appearance > Customize. You can edit the styles of much of the theme from within, including the colors of the menu.

Before updating, you can always see the changes first by clicking “view version details,” however, they are almost always just minor bug fixes that come with the progression of WordPress and internet browsers.

Have you deactivated or deleted any of the recommended plugins? BLDR uses Types to create all of those great post types, and that is the only reason they would disappear.

I would also recommend making sure your WordPress install, theme, and plugins are all completely up to date.
