Hi Luca! Thanks for reply. Alas, already did. I did the update successfully but that row does not seem to be in wp_options table. I thought maybe it would regenerate, too.

I will try to remember to check after the next WP update comes out (should be in about another 15 minutes, right?)

Are you using a membership plugin? Not a complete solution but try deactivating any such plugins and if the user screen works as normal, you might have your culprit. In fact, start deactivating all plugins one by one and see if that resolves it.

I did a quick search and it looks like any page that is designated as Private is only visible to users who are at the level of editor or admin. So a regular visit wouldn’t be able to see them.

What might work is for you to go to Appearance > Menus and select each of your menus to edit. Then uncheck “Automatically add new top-level pages to this menu” (you can see it down at the bottom of the page) and save the menu. That way you can prevent your pages you don’t want in the menu from showing up there. Then, make any page public but simply do not add to the menu.

Hi John! Can you give a little more information, like the theme or version of WP you are using?

In the mean time, what might help is this. Go to Appearance > Customize > Static Front Page and select to display your latest posts.

Otherwise, maybe you need to add a latest posts widget to an area of your front page. Good luck!

Site i was working on today has a custom made theme. Would it need any updates to work with the latest version of WP? (I did not create it)

I have always wondered what was meant by updating themes. Maybe so they’ll work with a newer version of php?

Your photos are great.

I am not sure why you aren’t seeing the box to select the comments you want to delete, but if all else fails, you can disallow comments for that particular post if you want.

let us know if you see the check boxes eventually, that is very puzzling.

what kmessinger said; if in doubt, call support and often your web hosting company will walk you through changing what needs to be changed. Good luck!

Can help with showing plugins – Go to the Grid Builder setting for the Post Grid you want, click on the Thumbnail option from the list and click on the check box. Then, if you have a featured image for that post, it will show.

This isn’t an answer, but as one newbie to another, I wanted to tell you what I did to make this happen.

I called my webhost’s helpline and I begged. Eventually, after some groveling, they did it for me.

I am not an overly stupid person (I hope) and I found it very difficult as a beginner to figure this out. I was very grateful for their help. It was godaddy, by the way.
