Thank you hvanoers. Soon after I decided to downgrade, WP announced the release of 2.7 RC-1, so I gave it a try. Seems to work well, so I might as well stick to it. No WYSIWYG, though. Kinda annoying. Cheers!

This happened to me, too, using WordPress 2.7 RC1.

I’ve deactivated all my plugins, then re-activated them one at a time. But no dice: I still don’t have WYSIWYG.

    Other suggestions welcome.

    Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply MichaelH

I like 2.7 Beta 3, and I believe I’ll eventually end up with it. At this point, however, 2.7b3 does not yet have the cool capabilities of my localhost test wp, which uses 2.6.3 and is a joy to use. For example:

    1. I can’t yet upload media easily to my online 2.7b3 blog. No MCE, no WYSIWYG of any kind. So I have to handcode my img and href tags. That’s time-consuming.

    2. Many plugins that work great on my offline 2.6.3 warn me that they may not yet be compatible with my online 2.7b3 blog. So that leaves me hanging in mid-air and asking myself, when will these things get updated?

    3. Like others have said on the forums, the 2.7b3 backend seems unusually slow.

I acknowledge these issues I raise are part and parcel of my having tried a beta instead of a stable. I accept that.

So I learned my lesson. I’m going to assume it’ll take a while for 2.7 to exit beta, and I’d rather not wait. I’m willing to do the extra work (and consider it part of my learning curve) to revert for now, and eventually upgrade again when 2.7 becomes stable.

    Thanks again and cheers…
