UPDATE: I discovered that one page displays the fonts correctly, but no other pages and no posts. I have cleared all caches. Still no dice.

In reply to: [OWM Weather] Card 1 layout brokenHey, Uwe —?
Well that’s definitely progress. So, I flipped
The possible places where I know CSS might be hiding are in the OWM Weather Settings, but that box is empty; the Customizer’s “Additional Settings,” which has no Weather code in it, and the plugin, Site Origin’s “Custom CSS” (nothing); or in “Snippets,” (also empty).
Art you able to see where that CSS lives?
Lastly you told me to “check if the weather definitions and the system definitions are empty.” I don’t believe I know what you mean…
Thanks!

In reply to: [OWM Weather] Card 1 layout brokenI was very enthusiastic to hear of an easy fix, but, alas, the desired outcome continues to elude us.
I deleted what was in the additional CSS box, and tried viewing the page with Bootstrap both on and off, and the only thing that changed is that the cards are now stacked on top of each other. We may have to throw in the towel on this until Formidable Forms updates to Bootstrap 4 or 5 (is there a polite way to ask them to do that?)
Thanks!

In reply to: [OWM Weather] Card 1 layout brokenHi, Uwe —
Thanks for your reply and concern that we take the least invasive approach.
The OWM Weather Card is much closer to what it used to look like, but as you can see, not quite there:
https://www.greylockglass.com/almanac/I looked at layout settings bun I didn’t see one that seemed like it would be applicable.
So far, all other pages look fine. But then my site is cached at CloudFlare, so who knows what morning will bring after the cache resets!
Thoughts?

I’m willing to give it a try, sure. If I can basically create a new folder in my theme folder and drop the template in that, I’m sure I can’t mess it up too badly. How can I get that template file?
But I am concerned that my Bootstrap version is falling behind. Do you recall what it was that’s stopping me from upgrading?
Thanks!

In reply to: [OWM Weather] Special Weather StatementHello, Uwe —
Hope your travels were pleasant.
There is a chance of thundershowers tonight, but unless hail and/or damaging wind is expected, the National Weather Service doesn’t usually issue an alert. Looks like it might be a week or more before we can expect to see one.
As far as the animated icon, I DO like it —?very much —, as it shows up on your page. the sun is partially hidden behind a cloud and rotates in place. On my site, it rotates as if the axis point is close to the edge of the circle, causing the sun to move about around the cloud. Not the worst thing, of course, but if you compare the two:

you’ll see that they behave unexplainably differently in the two environments.

In reply to: [Plugin Detective - Troubleshooting Conflicts] Wrecked my site’s appearamceNathan —
Thanks for your kind reply.
I did have a fairly recent backup, though I’m choosing to make lemonade out of lemons and am piecing things together from this point forward. We all have sites on which we’ve been meaning to tweak this element or redesign that layout. Why restore a backup when I can start with a somewhat blank canvas.
Navigation has been restored, and my readers will just have to manage a little “under construction” look for a couple weeks. Better than all the road construction we deal with every spring.
I apologize for the wrathful tone of yesterday. I was filled with…wrath. But you didn’t deserve that dressing down, and I’d delete the note if I could. Thank you for working hard to develop WordPress accessories that are truly lifesavers for most of the people who seek out your plugins. Didn’t work for me, but I’m the exception and that’s fine. Keep up the good work, and let’s both use this as a teachable moment.
Best regards —

In reply to: [OWM Weather] Special Weather StatementSo, I’ve been buried with work, and missed the alerts. I can tell you, though, that whatever was working on your demo is not working on my site at this very moment:
https://www.greylockglass.com/almanac/Default state is open. Is there some setting other than “inline” that I’m not aware of?
I made a screen recording of the Weather card loading (with spinner switched off), which shows not only the default open position, but also a strange phenomenon of the sun both rotating on its axis and drunkenly revolving around the cloud. What’s that all about? They look fine on your demo page.
I also made a screen recording of the Weather card I placed in the sidebar on my homepage to show that the weather alert is in open status there, too, and another odd thing —?the weather alert button is just black until you hover over it, and then the words appear, but in white. Is this a case of my homepage CSS overriding the Weather styles?
Both short screen recordings are here:
https://www.greylockglass.com/shared-media-demo-page/I thank you for your attention and support, and hope that this troubleshooting ends up helping lots of folks and making your life easier eventually.
Thanks!

In reply to: [OWM Weather] Special Weather StatementWell, it certainly makes sense that you’d build it exactly that way.
My region could possibly have an extreme heat advisory (yes, in Massachusetts; yes in May) on Saturday. Also thunderstorms are a possibility on Sunday. I’ll message you here as soon as one pops up.
Thanks!

In reply to: [OWM Weather] Special Weather StatementI followed those instructions before posting, and:
? yes, it displays inline just fine;
??but its initial, default state is open, as illustrated here:https://www.greylockglass.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Screen-Shot-2022-05-16-at-10.13.47-PM.png
This presentation detracts from the normally elegant crown your plugin creates at the top of the page. Once a user clicks the Weather Alert button, they’ll likely continue on down the page past the alert, or they’ll click the button again to see if it closes the alert (people like clicking buttons and making things happen).
So if the default were set to … state=”0″ for closed or some such code (I know next to nothing about code, apologies), you could, if you wanted, give people the choice to change that on the Settings > Display tab.
Thanks!

In reply to: [OWM Weather] Special Weather StatementHi, Uwe —
Again, thanks for the wonderful plugin and great support.
The entire copy of the weather alerts are shown by default (in the open position). I tested this in a fresh browser with all history cleared just to be sure.
Is there some way to ensure that only the alert buttons are visible until the reader clicks them?

In reply to: [OWM Weather] Special Weather StatementWell, I hope such an adjustment has the potential to help others as well.
Would suggesting to Formidable Forms that they think about moving to a newer version of Bootstrap be an unreasonable/offensive request? Seems that if we’re up to Bootstrap 5 now, OWM can’t be the only reason for upgrading.
Thanks again for your response and for a great weather tool!

In reply to: [OWM Weather] Special Weather StatementHi, Uwe —
Thanks so much for the reply. That final link you provided is visually pretty elegant, and I’m guessing it just resizes the box that’s already there rather than calling into being a new modal/pop-up.
If I’m understanding you correctly though, there’s not much I can do to effect any change. Is there a request that I should make of my theme’s designer (not that they take requests as a rule)? Or is there something I can do to add Bootstrap?
Thank you and stay well.
