I too have the same error stating it can’t find the wp-content directory when either trying to automatically update a plugin or install a new theme using my WordPress Dashboard.
I uploaded all the Wordpresd filed manually using an FTP program, all file uploaded fine with no errors.
Upon opening my site, I was prompted to enter the database details, and that worked fine as well.
I’m using the free hosting service from Byethost. As this is my very first attempt at creating a wordpress self-hosted site (I used wordpress free blogs for a while), I’m considering myself a newbie when it comes to all things wordpress ??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
