It’s your theme that control the length of the excerpt
But there is a plugin https://da.www.ads-software.com/plugins/custom-excerpt-length/ … havn’t tried it …. but I think you can use it.

Maybe I should code the solution in Simple News … for a new release ??

Sure thing – you should be able to use WordPress own export / import function.
Maybe you should have to add the featured image manually …

1) -> Tools -> Export
2) -> Tools -> Import -> Install WordPress (importer)
3) -> Tools -> Import -> the file
