    this is quite disheartening…

With Posies, I have WordPress installed in a different directory.

With EdHidden.com, I removed my permalink structure and reset it up, hoping it would possibly “reset” my .htaccess doc. Let me know if that DID anything to fix the problem…

I had put up a blank .htaccess and let WordPress manage it.

orange – Are you able to read https://www.binarybonsai.com or edhidden.com too? Same problem???

I’ll see about getting my .htaccess posted.

I’m having the exact same problem with my site as well. I have this setup on a clients site and they are questioning why “page” content isn’t showing up when they search.

I didn’t have a good answer for them.

I’m trying to do this with Version 1.5 and I keep getting stuck as well. I’d love to get some advice on it.

I had it working, but it wouldn’t get past the “loading data” section.

I’m wondering if the problem is with the mod_rewrite rules. I put SimpleViewer on a “page” at /photo/people (I had to create a new template page to put the Flash Code onto)

I’m tempted to just put everything back at the root of my server and just try to include the page. I wonder if the rewrite would still screw it up.

    I tried to do this…

I got up to #3 and then changed my permalinks, but didn’t get the message “you don’t an htaccess file” or “we coudn’t update this automatically because of it wasn’t writable” message. It just acted like the file was there.

And it looks like it created a new htaccess file.

The links appear to work now. I wonder if they will shortly though.

(one last issue that MIGHT be causing problems… is my server provider has a web control panel where I’d made changes to my htaccess file in the past because my FTP program couldn’t show hidden files. I wonder if that setting in the webcontrol panel is causing a “rewrite” of that file after a while that it realizes it’s out of sequence?)

    Macmanx….

I understand that. But if I change mine, it’s ok…. then an hour or so later, the Permalinks are “broken” again.

Actually, I’m having the same problem still…

I didn’t have my .htaccess file set to the right permission. I thought I had fixed it. I can make a change to my permalink structure, then go in and everything is fine, but an hour later or so, pages are reporting as “not found”.

It’s like the mod-rewrite rule is changing or something.

    Is this happening often?

    Nevermind…

I just followed another thread and was working with my .htaccess file and finally got the write access setup on it… and NOW it’s working fine.

I must say… I didn’t follow your reply. I’m somewhat of an apache/php newbie. I’m migrating from the wonderful world of ASP and Access. And right now my head is spinning with what I don’t know!

    I’m running: Apache/1.3.33 Server

I’m still having this exact problem and I’ve updated to the newest nightly to see if it was possibly corrected. Any word on this specifc problem? Is there a place other then here to report bugs like this?

(nightly build 1-23 of beta 1.5)

I had a “similar” weirdness with my Pages (and posts?)

If I add a new page, set it to no comments or pings and set published status and a page order then click “create page” Everything seems fine, but if I go back in to edit the page, Allow Comments and Pings is checked and the page order is set to 0.

If I “re-edit” those fields and click save changes, it will keep those settings. But I HAVE to do it for every post for that change to take effect.

Sorry for the long reply. I thought I had figured it out, but I was wrong.

I believe I’m looking to do the first one. I want to say, “if it is the home, show this HTML, othwise, show the loop”

I figured out my problem… I had .htm pages in the root directory with the same file name as the “post slugs”

I’m having a very similar problem with Pages this evening. I have 6 pages anda few blog posts.

If I put in a permalink structure of
    /blog/%post_id%

then 3 of the 6 pages show as 404 page not found errors. The other 3 show up correctly with the correct URL /about/ for example.

I remove it and the pages are found. (natually, they are using the index.php?P=# address)

    I’m using the 01/12 build.
