I think WordPress needed to fix this bugs in version 5.5 before releasing it. I also have a similar issue. The site simply goes down and the update runs all day without finishing. Then the site cannot be accessed. I have uninstalled WordPress severally to see what happens. Even on an empty site the update doesn’t complete.
What is up WordPress, how do we fix this or we stay on version 5.4.2?
