  • ???? this is the same topic. DIV layer editor. The savior of WP ( in my eyes. everyone’s entitled to their opinion )

So i think your response was a little harse. But its what i expected for daring to say anything negative about WP.

For a WP product to grow it needs feedback. And constructive negative critism is the best you can get. I don’t really get this whole die hard WP community “circle the wagons” if anyone dares to make a negative comment tbh.
Its a great product, but it appears “to me ” that developement missed some basic things and forgot to go back to fill in the gaps. Anyway, don#t want to stray again from the subject of the number 1 WP plugin .. DIV layer editor..

I’m gutted this does not work right. I’ve been using WP for a few months now. Coming from a full html wysiwyg editor ( dreamweaver and express web ) I have found 1 part of WP by far the most annoying.

I’ve no issue with the idea of child theme’s , plugins , tinkering with the CSS php code etc by the way. And there are lots of great functionality…. BUT !!!

actually finding out the name of the object you want to change is AAARRGGGHHH. Let alone finding where it resides. ( please don’t anyone respond with “just pull up the source code in the browser” ) there is so many calls from 1 piece of code to another to another that rarely works.
i understand why its coded like this. but i think the usual answer of “go to line 2323 and cut/paste then try and find this line which will either be hear or hear or hear, but only if its a full moon etc, is getting a little old. I’m using wp as a tool. the end product is the site. If i wanted to spend hours in the code to do simple things i’d probably be a developer. ( as nodoubt the people who will slate this post will be )

I’m running twenty twelve ( child ) and have a a single sidebar. All i wanted to do was to reduce the width of the sidebar and increase the size of the main content div. 2 min job in anything other than WP.

spent a good couple of hours reading different posts all with totally different solutions ( non worked ) tinker with the #primary and #secondary entries ( counld’t even find the entries ) and lots more besides.

So u could imagine when i came across this plugin how happy i was. arrowed down to the content div and simply changed the width. Same for sidebar and then repositioned with a drag. God, we were back in the modern world ??
Only to find the menu on the app wasn’t working. all the options grey out upon selection of an existing theme except the create new, but that hangs if u try and use it.

So for the benefit of the developer ….. Great job and please just finish off. you would make a mint.
My thoughts are although most never dare say anything negative about WP, 99% of users would happily pay for this. ( lets face it, this basic functionality should be bundled with the base WP package never mind a plugin ).

i have kevin. but obviously everything as aimed ( as i can totally understand ) at “moving” the graphics around. tried to wow slider etc etc but noting much happening on the text comment side other than appearing “unaniamted” below each individual graphic.

i was hoping 1. because a single graphic header is fine for my purpose, its obviously got the advantage of no graphic latency.

and 2) becuase the plugin’s can do all these wonderful ken burns / fader effects etc etc on full blown graphics,

that there would be a plugin to just handle simple txt comment animation ( relatively speaking compared with graphics ).

so just been through the style.css again …nothing.

god the joy of being able to click anything on the page and see all it properties in one place …lol

so just for my own sanity …. i have created a new page called contact.

when i view the page the word “contact” appears just under the top banner and the menu. it looks approx 25-30px in size.

i think i’d be happy to just find out what the name of the object is refered to in wordpress “speak”, never mind being able to do anything as radical as changing a font size. i’m presuming as its the name of my page its called page-title or something similar ????

any put me out of my misery….pretty please.
