What plugin are you using for the AJAX search?

Can you post the REST request your are trying?
Also have you enabled the Woocommerce REST API?
Do other requests work, Authentication , orders etc?

Media upload? In a Post or a Page? Maybe there is a problem with your installation and you can not upload images.

When you press “set featured image” what does it happens?

Do the files upload correctly?
When you save the product, is everything lost, or just the images?

Also can you post a link of one of your products?

If you are able to add a featured image in a post you should be able to add a featured image in a product also.
