In reply to: Kubrick errorIt’s an upgrade (from the latest 1.5.x version, whatever that is) and I ran upgrade.php after copying the files over HOWEVER I deleted all the old version files (keeping the 1.5.x database) before uploading the new stuff

In reply to: Kubrick error[EDITED] Sorry for double post. Damn sensitive touchpad.

In reply to: Kubrick errorFF v1.5RC3. I’ve uploaded a screenshot to my wordpress.com account so you can see what I mean. However the problem has NOTHING to do with wordpress.com (I put the image there for bandwidth reasons), the problem is on my wp2.0 blog on my own server – I’ve tried the usual tricks (Ctrl+Reload, clear cache etc.) and they don’t seem to make a difference.

In reply to: WP Beta-1 releasedI don’t have a huge number of plugins installed, but I’ll test it out anyway (hey, what are site backups for? :P)

In reply to: URGENT: Listing of all permalinksThere’s no slashing and burning involved, I am simply switching from a package that I know to be highly vulnerable (WordPress, given that it got me hacked) to one that is slightly less vulnerable (Movable Type)
EDIT: On the subject of staying up-to-date, I was using WordPress 1.5.1.3, the latest version, so that cannot be used as an excuse for the flaws

In reply to: URGENT: Listing of all permalinksAs far as I know, it wasn’t register_globals anyway, it was a javascript component of the Rin theme. Whatever caused it, my site has ALREADY been hacked and I can’t really risk it happening a second time.

In reply to: URGENT: Listing of all permalinksUrgent because I need to get rid of my current WordPress install for security reasons. Thanks for the idea though, worked like a charm.

In reply to: WordPress as a school’s CMSThat’s WordPress? Nice! I would have done something similar (in the 4 years I ran my school’s website design team) except they wouldn’t give me PHP/MySQL access. Idiots

In reply to: Ethics QuestionIs IP blocking even effective? I mean even if you have broadband all you have to do is disconnect the DSL modem (not sure if its the same for cable, someone enlighten me) and voila, new IP address.

In reply to: Any WP blog clients? The problem with blog clients (such as w.bloggar, which is great on Windows) is that they don’t take account of any ‘customised’ stuff in your posting menu. Like if you have a code validator, or a technorati tags plugin, all of those will be ignored because you are posting via a standard interface.

In reply to: technorati referalsI’m not trying to be pedantic, but are the referrals from technorati.com or (as in your previous post) techorati.com
If it’s technorati.com (with an N), the referring pages definitely exist (go to Technorati.com, then Tags, and type in ‘cats’).
If it’s techorati.com (without an N) then it’s referrer spam, as that site is a link farm (some blogs put up a list of ‘recent referrers’, so its for the same reasons as comment spam).
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Lists in Kubrick commentsOK, thanks, it seems from the way that the Kubrick comments template works that I can’t sort out the problem with lists within comments without putting a bullet beside each actual comment. I can understand what was causing the problem, but I’ll probably have to find a new theme after all.
Thanks

In reply to: WordPress causing coredumpsStill don’t have the faintest idea what was causing it, but reinstalling WordPress (although a bit of a pain) seems to have solved the problem
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: WordPress causing coredumpsIt’s still doing it (after the PHP MyAdmin repair) and the database is only 1.38 megs. I’ll backup my database and try a full, fresh install of WordPress, maybe one of the plugins I had before has screwed something up.
