I totally appreciate your input and follow-through (said sincerely). I will use both those URLs to try to get some qualified help.

Hi bdbrown, the tigertech explanation was very helpful. But if I understand the second hyperlink page, it’s not linking to a “plug in solution’. It appears to describe how to generate a static message when a user confronts a 503 situation. Will the process described send the message to me? I’m not technically proficient to tell. I’m confused that you described that link as offering a “plugin solution”. Did you have another link in mind?

We had a situation last week where I was on the phone to a potential supplier and we were discussing the site Automotive-Art.com She complained that she was getting 503 error messages when she tried to access product pages. She was on a Mac platform. During this exact same time period, I could access those pages without difficulty. I was incredulous that she could not access pages that I could and what worries me that except for the exceptional circumstances of my being on the phone with her, I would not have known of the problem. We were able to fix the problem (or so I have been told.) So can you help me?

Thank you but I’m not interested in being notified if the site is down; I can actually see that for myself. I’m worried about a user being denied access to a page or service that may be somewhat unique to their situation (e.g. Mac platform or browser) and/or that page or service! The site may be up and running except for this anomaly. I want to be notified if an error message is sent to the user and some details of the circumstances. Any plug-in for that you recommend?

Yes I did check Feedburner, per your suggestion… and I was aware of Feeburner. But my concern is that it’s an extra step in a world where minimization of effort prevails. The alternative of Feedburner is a good one, I’m just wondering if there is an alternative course.

Everyone is already getting email; not everyone is signed up for Feeds. My demo is going to skew older than 30 so I want to make everything easy.

Thank you but the problem with RSS and Feedburner is that the missive doesn’t come in an email in box which I am sure is the most common “channel” for folks to check. With feeds, you need to check a feedreader, you have to even know they exist. So while hugely popular, they are exotic compared to email, no? So my question is really not how to propogate the post on the blog, but how to get it delivered via good old email. Like Groupon or Rue La La does. They have a website/blog but they deliver email daily based on latest blogs… I assume in a very integrated seamless manner. Is there anyway I can do this with WordPress?

Ooooh… to quote Jack Nicholson, don’t I feel like a *@!**^&*. Thanks, very helpful and explains my difficulties. Again my thanks for the clarification!

Thanks, but not apropos to my question. I am only talking about WordPress site. I am only talking about www.ads-software.com.

Are you suggesting there is a different log in for www.ads-software.com and wordpress.com???

My question is this… can one delete one’s WordPress account? If so, how do you do that? I have two logins for two different names/identities. Can someone tell me how to get rid of the original one I had created four years ago?

In other words, how do I delete an older superceded WordPress account?

Ooops, I meant… when I try to use my new log in anywhere else on the wordpress site

Yes, I opened up an account a long time ago, and had a WordPress blog, but I abandoned it. I opened a new account with anticipation of starting new blog. Now I can’t get WordPress to let me log in with new account (except to this one page: https://www.ads-software.com/support/).

When I try to use my new log in anywhere else on the page, I am told it doesn’t recognize me. I don’t know what to do. Do I give up on my new registration, or just ignore the old registration.

It seems to me I would be happiest deleting the old registration, which is tied to my email address (that has remained constant).
