In reply to: Feedburner subscription enabling will not workIn case anyone is wondering, I found the solution to the above problem. When you list your website in your Feed Burner widget, make sure that you write it exactly as Feed Burner assigned it. You can find this on your Feed Burner site registration page.
More specifically, make sure you include the full URL, which has FeedBurner info at the front. Beyond that, note that FeedBurner does not place a period before “com” at the end of the URL. So, for instance, for my blog, https://www.chartlottewestbrook.com, FeedBurner has it listed (after the FeedBurner part of the URL) as Charlottewestbrookcom.
Is FeedBurner case sensitive? I don’t know, but I suggest you play it safe and use upper and lower case exactly as written on your FeedBurner blog registration page.

In reply to: Marketing my blogThanks for the suggestion. I will definitely look into joining the SEO Forum. As for your other excellent suggestion, that of submitting my blog into blog directories, where do I find them and how do I go about doing this?

In reply to: Importing new themes into wordpressWell, I called my host and we figured out the problem — I had not installed the new theme to the public_html/wp-content/themes directory, but to another wp-content/themes directly I had duplicatively installed one level above. Apparently it all has to be under the public_html directory in order to work.
I became a bit familiar wtih FTP (file transfer program), but it turned out that I did not need to use this. I simply downloaded the desired theme to My Documents in Windows, then uploaded it from there to my host. However, I agree that FTP is an important process to master.
By the way, I find the BlueHost customer support to be outstanding. They not only are patient and knowledgeable, you do not have to wait a long time for them to come on the phone. I have used them three times — and will doubtless use them more — and I give them four stars for each effort. Plus they have weekend hours.
Thanks to all. From my point of view, you can mark this string “resolved,” although others of you may not yet feel that way.

In reply to: Importing new themes into wordpressJeremy (or anyone else with an answer),
I have returned to the documentation to see your update. However, unfortunately, this still does not help. My problem, specifically, is that my new selected theme — installed in wordpress content/themes directory on my third party server (BlueHost) — does not show up as an option on the WordPress page where I select a new theme. The only options that continue to be there are the “classic” and the “default.”
Somehow, there seems to be some kind of miscommunication between the wordpress content/themes directory on BlueHost and the actual WordPress blog, or at least the part of it that deals with Theme selection. This is very frustrating as I want to get going on my blog.
Has anyone who has had this problem been successful in resolving it?
Thanks.

In reply to: Importing new themes into wordpressActually, reading the documentation does not help. I am having the same problem as the original poster. I have WordPress 2.6.2. The documentation tells me to go to the Presentation subpage. There is no such page.
I have followed the directions exactly. I have chosen a theme, placed it in the wordpress/themes directory via the cpanel in my third party server (BlueHost), unzipped it, and it still does not show up as a choice on my themes directory page in WordPress.
Am I missing something?
Thanks

In reply to: Applying new templateI am having a very similar problem. I am also new to WordPress, as well as Blue Host, the third party server I am using. I have chosen a theme from the WordPress directory and uploaded it to the WordPress themes directory, as instructed, on Blue Host. I unzipped the file. But nothing appears on the WordPress theme directory page!
What am I doing wrong? Someone please advise!
Thanks very much.
