Scratch that… Just updated permalink structure and all is well.
Thanks again for the help ccarfi. Those instructions helped keep me pragmatic in the approach. It may not be as easy as “clicking a button”, but still fairly straight forward.
One thing I did, not sure if this is a best practice but I dropped all the tables from the database before I imported the old one. I was getting a couple errors before I tried that in phpMyAdmin.
Cheers!
All looks good as far as I can tell except for one thing.
I’m getting error’s on media uploads. Uploading a featured image on a video and I just get an error every time.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks! I’ll let you know if I encounter any hiccups.
I appreciate the support!

Doh! I figured it wouldn’t be that easy haha. It’s ok, I think I can handle it. I just need to make this happen. How long does it typically take a DNS change to propagate with Godaddy? I changed this one yesterday and it’s still pointed to the old site.
Regarding the migration, I’m still trying to figure out the most elegant way to do this. I did regular backups like I mentioned earlier, I also did my WP Duplicator backups. I’m a bit leery due to possible database issues but it seems fairly straight forward.
Do you know if I need to create a DB user first? Any advice from this point?
Hey ccarfi, thanks for responding!
Unfortunately, I am doing this with a client and had given instructions that were not adhered to. He just went and got the Ultimate Linux Hosting with cPanel. Would I be able to access this migration tool?
I’ve disabled and removed the caching plugins and did separate database backups. I’m set just in case with that. I’d prefer re-install the caching plugin after based on your input.
Let me know if I can still use this tool and if so, where is it?
Thanks! ??

In reply to: How can I restore this site?Hey James!
Looks like I got it all squared away. I had replaced the includes and admin, I put back the updated folders and viola! All worked. Then I had to refresh the permalinks. Then everything worked perfect. I ran through and checked everything to make sure nothing was broken / ran a few updates that popped up.
Thank you for your insight! It really helped out.

In reply to: How can I restore this site?I can’t even log into my dashboard now. I only changed out the wp-content, includes, and admin folders… I saw some recommendation to do that. I’m not sure if that helped me or hurt me.

In reply to: How can I restore this site?Ok so I went through it, not sure what I’m missing. The site pops up… however, everything is 404 from the main page. Any suggestions? I know I’m missing something, I guess the good sign is that this shows up.

In reply to: How can I restore this site? Thanks James, so let me ask if I have this right.
I did a full clean install of WP. Then, I changed out my wp-config to point to the original DB. I then, change out my core files. Would that bring me up to speed?
Also, I’ll look at the table prefix and such to make sure things are in order.
