I think an analogy to image hotlinking is appropriate, and you know how we deal with hotlinkers.

What I think I’m looking for is something like quicktags. I just want to allow commenters, even those not logged in, to highlight a word and click a button to link, bold, quote, or italicize it with standard HTML, just like in the message I’m posting right now.

I looked into Alex King’s quicktags, but it’s not working for me. I’m guessing it’s probably a K2/Ajax issue, so I need something that can co-exist with that.

I had https://www.myblog.mydomain.com in the site options, but the actual url was myblog.mydomain.com. Changing that fixed the problem.

I’d like to know how to do this, too.

It seems to work for some themes and not for others. For example, widgets don’t work with the Tiga theme, however, if you replace the tiga theme’s sidebar.php with the default theme’s sidebar.php, they do work, although the formatting is screwed up, as you might imagine.

So in other words, it’s something in the sidebar.php file specific to that theme that’s the problem.

I think it’s main_index_template or something similar.

Well, I actually have my domain set to “Remove “www.” if somebody goes to https://www.domain.com/”.

There’s no www in the URL, not in the browser nor in the logs. Surely you must have meant something else?

Ahh! Under Options>General in wordpress admin I did have www as the wordpress address and the blog address. I changed that and what do you know….It Works!

drmike, you’re saying I should change my domain settings with my host to require www. not be present, rather than allowing either as I currently have it?

Fantastico should have put the old version of your site in yoursite.com.old. I know that’s howdreamhost works. I believe you need to restore the database to the point it was before the backup, too.

g30rgg3x’s plug-in worked for me. I added the appropriate entries to wp-config first.

Aha! I was looking for a template file to put the code in, and I should have been looking for a theme file. Going to presentation > Theme Editor instead of Manage >Files does show the footer.php that I was looking for.
