I don’t have a solution for you, but I would say that this is a level of detail that seems negligible. Perhaps, you’d do better with your time to focus on content, and let ephemera like this fall to the wayside.

1. Who’s coming to your site?
2. Who’d going to actually use the “search” function
3. How much energy is an empty result for that cohort worth expending?

one of those two companies should be able to provide you with an admin user name and password to access your site files via FTP.

once you are logged in, you will see three folders:

wp-admin
wp-content
wp-includes

open wp-content
open the folder “plugins”
start renaming the folders within
or simply add the letter z to the name of the plugins folder itself, rendering all plugin files inaccessible to wordpress.

did your site come back?

the dreaded “White Screen of Death”

If you can access your site files via FTP, go into wp-content/plugins

rename every folder ( I just put a “z” at the beginning of every folder name)

This disconnects your install from the plugins.

Did the site come back up?

If so, one of the plugins is not working with the theme anymore.

Start removing the “z” from the folder names until you find the offending plugin.

Delete that plugin and go back to normal.

Ok – so you know how to go into the admin section, customize, and then click on “ADDITIONAL CSS”? Good.

So, upload your “icon” or whatever image you want to be up there, then copy the url of the image to notepad (or your fave text editor).

Add this to the “additional CSS” section:

height:35px; /*height of your image*/
background-image:url(‘https://www.YOURSITENAME.com/wp-content/uploads/anicon.png’);

I see them all because I am looking at your site on a great big monitor.

I gather when you say “the bottom 4 items are now off the screen” you are referring to the screen of your phone or tablet. Here’s an article that is relevant to your problem:

Suggestion – there’s no need for a submenu here. Just send visitors to the “Mining” page and let them enjoy.

Did you try that?

ok, so just to be sure – you did go into

DASHBOARD > APPEARANCE > WIDGETS

and click-n-drag the “meta” box away from the “WIDGETS” bar and back into the “available” stack – right? You did that and it still appears?
