I’m hosted with A Small Orange if that helps.

I changed the wp-content to 777 but it made no difference; still the same error. I returned it to 764 for now.

MichaelH – That seems like I’d be leaving myself really vulnerable to all the “evil doers” out there.

    I think I’d better stop changing things…

    Now I get these errors:

“Warning: is_dir(): Stat failed for /home/*****/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2006 (errno=13 – Permission denied) in /home/*****/public_html/wordpress/wp-includes/functions-post.php on line 869

Warning: is_dir(): Stat failed for /home/*****/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/uploads (errno=13 – Permission denied) in /home/*****/public_html/wordpress/wp-includes/functions-post.php on line 869
Unable to create directory /home/*****/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2006/02. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

When I click the image upload button, I get the finder for my hard drive, is that correct?

I’m really screwing things up I think.

You know what VaamYob… I have no idea. I don’t even know where to check/change them. I clicked the link Kafkaesqui left above and went through Codex but I still can’t figure out how. I guess I need a really noob, step by step here.

I thought I’d be ok after upgrading… but alas, no.

I still can’t get a pic to my site.

I try the “insert/edit image” icon on the write page and I’m asked for a URL. Why a url? The pic is on my hardrive.
I also tried the browse button in the blue upload field below the page content and the error I receive is:

“Unable to create directory /home/*****/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2006/02. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

I also have already added the pics to the wp-content file and with CyberDuck reloaded…

I’m still banging my head against the wall here.

    I still can’t figure this out…

When I try to upload a pic this is the error message:

Unable to create directory /home/*******/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/uploads. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    I changed the ***. I don’t understand what it’s asking.

    I’m such a dink!

Kri – Thanks for responding. I do have WP 2.0. I did try the image uploader and I tried to copy and paste. Neither worked. When I tried the image uploader, I got an error message that it couldn’t find an upload file. I think that’s what it said. When I tried the copy and paste I simply got nothing. I copied from Word and from Text Editor and both yielded the same reuslt… nada.

I’ve since made a folder for uploads wp-content/uploads/. Now I’ll open CyberDuck and see if that works.

Podz and Kassad – that makes more sense to me.
    Thanks for the help ??

Jonlandrum – That’s my case… at least from my point of view. I’m not even indexed and I have these links automatically on my site to others. I’m sure they’re not linked to me.

This may be standard for WordPress, but will I be casuing some kind of stink if and when I want to remove them?

MacManX – Thanks buddy. That cleared up everything for me. I thought I was going nuts! Very simple fix once you can navigate the convoluted process.

    Thanx again.

Vkaryl – I’ll check those out as well. Thanx.

    Thanx for the reply.
Are all the pieces seperate? I mean after downloading WordPress onto my ASO acct… have the site up and running (such as it is)… I still need to create another account?

I tried that and I think I’ve very quickly screwed things up. My original blog https://www.marcorigazio.com works fine.

    Now what is https://mrmarco.wordpress.com/ ?

    Yup… I screwed something up ??

Do I have 2 accounts now? If so, can I delete the second one?

    I’m getting a headache
