Hi Ashish, thanks for your reply. Are you able to assist me with advising what code I should add to a child theme or if not, can you advise when it might be an option on the premium version?

    SUCCESS!

Using some of the text that Charles Kelley posted I added some from the FB for WordPress page and this is what I entered for the 3 boxes which earned me those elusive ‘ticks’! Crude, but effective!

    Hopefully it’ll work for others

    TAGGING

Tagging would be used when tagging someone.

I’m using the Facebook for WordPress plugin which states:
Open your Facebook application’s Open Graph dashboard (Open Graph -> Dashboard). You should see a “Publish” action type. Submit your action for approval. Select the following action properties:

User Messages – attach a personalized message to each new post
Tags – enables mention tagging of Facebook friends and pages
Explicitly Shared – allows a post authored from the WordPress edit screen to be marked as explicitly shared to Facebook

    USER MESSAGES

User messages would be used to post a message with the post to the timeline.

    EXPLICIT SHARING

Explicit sharing would be used when the box is clicked to share it on my timeline on the post page.

    Thank Jeremijah,

Changing to 13+ solved the issue for me ??

I’m guessing the mention tagging will only work once we get approved for the user messages, tags and explicit sharing options? All I seem to be doing is re-submitting my request and getting denied…mildly frustrating.

Since the new version of the plugin I too have been struggling here.

It’s all very well FB sending a message saying you need to make changes but I have no idea what those changes need to be and the page they suggest looking at https://developers.facebook.com/wordpress/ is hardly clear when all it says is:

Open your Facebook application’s Open Graph dashboard (Open Graph -> Dashboard). You should see a “Publish” action type. Submit your action for approval. Select the following action properties:

User Messages – attach a personalized message to each new post
Tags – enables mention tagging of Facebook friends and pages

I have also noticed this, slightly frustrating. Would be nice to know why this is happening now.

I was logged in to facebook at the time. I went ahead and published the post but it failed to post on the Associated Page due to the dreaded ‘expired token’.

I’ll try removing permissions and re-trying. Thanks.

Quite indicative that Facebook’s Facebook app doesn’t work and no one from Facebook appears to want to fix it…

thanks for the define code workaround. My host is one of those that blocks loopbacks as a ‘security’ measure and I’ve been manually setting up a CRON job but it wasn’t always working out great.

    Stupid question alert

When WP is updated with patches e.g. I apply the 2.9.1 update does anyone know if the define entry be overwritten or can I just set and forget it?

Can I ask how you managed to accomplish it? I’m trying to do the same thing i.e. remove the H1 ‘Home’ line only on the main page, which is a static page

Thanks for such a speedy response, I’ll check out that plugin now and hopefully won’t have to bother you further ??

    Hi Otto,

I tried your suggestion but judging by the result of the email I got after the CRON job ran, it didn’t like something. The start of the message was:

WordPress database error MySQL server has gone away for query SELECT * FROM wp_posts, wp_postmeta WHERE wp_posts.ID = wp_postmeta.post_id AND wp_postmeta.meta_key = ‘_pingme’ LIMIT 1 made by do_all_pings
WordPress database error MySQL server has gone away for query SELECT * FROM wp_posts, wp_postmeta WHERE wp_posts.ID = wp_postmeta.post_id AND wp_postmeta.meta_key = ‘_encloseme’ LIMIT 1 made by do_all_pings
WordPress database error MySQL server has gone away for query SELECT ID FROM wp_posts WHERE to_ping <> ” AND post_status = ‘publish’ made by do_all_pings

And then lots of entries very similar to this:

WordPress database error MySQL server has gone away for query UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = ‘a:98:{i:1209252233;a:1:{s:8:\”do_pings\”;a:1:{s:32:\”40cd750bba9870f18aada2478b24840a\”;a:2:{s:8:\”schedule\”;b:0;s:4:\”args\”;a:0:{}}}}i:1209252259;a:1:{s:8:\”do_pings\”;a:1:{s:32:\”40cd750bba9870f18aada2478b24840a\”;a:2:{s:8:\”schedule\”;b:0;s:4:\”args\”;a:0:{}}}}i:1209253831;a:1:{s:8:\”do_pings\”;a:1:{s:32:\”40cd750bba9870f18aada2478b24840a\”;a:2:{s:8:\”schedule\”;b:0;s:4:\”args\”;a:0:{}}}}i:1209253918;a:1:{s:8:\”do_pings\”;a:1:{s:32:\”40cd750bba9870f18aada2478b24840a\”;a:2:{s:8:\”schedule\”;b:0;s:4:\”args\”;a:0:{}}}}i:1209337149;a:1:{s:8:\”do_pings\”;a:1:{s:32:\”40cd750bba9870f18aada2478b24840a\”;a:2:{s:8:\”schedule\”;b:0;s:4:\”args\”;a:0:{}}}}i:1209337172;a:1:{s:8:\”do_pings\”;a:1:{s:32:\”40cd750bba9870f18aada2478b24840a\”;a:2:{s:8:\”schedule\”;b:0;s:4:\”args\”;a:0:{}}}}i:1209337188;a:1:{s:8:\”do_pings\”;a:1:{s:32:\”40cd750bba9870f18aada2478b24840a\”;a:2:{s:8:\”schedule\”!

Any idea what that might mean?

    Thanks again

    Mr O

    Hi Arne,

I had tried increasing the memory and time etc but nothing, the white page was whenever I tried to manually rebuild the page as it didn’t do anything when I created a post.

HOWEVER! I just installed version 3.0.3.3 and Hooray! it works like a charm, sitemap created in under 2seconds ??

Super stuff… it’s certainly worth more than 6 stars! ??

    Hi Arne,

I’ve also been having a problem. Strangely I have 2 blogs running 2.5.1 and one has no problems with the plugin but the other just refuses to play nicely.

I have tried both the development version and the 3.0.3.2 version as well as adding php.ini files but still nothing but a blank screen after 6 or 7 minutes and only a half completed sitemap.xml file to show for it, nothing at all created in the .gz version…

One thing I notice is that if I remove the plugin from the server and then re-install it, it still shows the data from the previous attempt i.e. as soon as i activate it it says the previous attempt didn’t finish etc… almost as if it’s kept it in some sort of cache, I’m wondering if this is causing the problem with trying to use the the newer versions which seem to have worked for others?

Like I said, the other blog with the same host has no problems at all…

Any help would be appreciated ??
