If it is, it would be nice if hosts offering wordpress installations knew that this setting would be an issue for people who need to operate big menus!

I tried the twenty-ten default theme to check it, and I still get the ceiling of 32 items….

Because the site I’m building is basically a beta shell to test drive, I added all the pages without assigning them any parent or child roles in wordpress (aside from the custom menu set up), and I wondered if that might be giving wordpress a headache, so I installed the pagemash plugin and sorted the pages into their respective hierarchy/structure to see if that would help.

No dice again- even the with pages organized, I’ve got the same issue- I can only get 32 items in the custom menu to show up, and anything above and beyond gets ignored when I save changes.

I’d love to hear from some people on this!

I am using a premium theme called Unisphere Corporate and wondered if because it was designed pre-Wordpress 3 if that might be interfering with things.

The theme builder graciously added the code I need to use the custom menus with the theme, and I added his updates right away. No dice.

I tried switching the theme to 2010 to see if that might help. The menu displays just as it’s laid out in the editor, but I still can’t get more than 32 items to go into the menu.

    Ideas?

I have read the following support topics on this issue, and it appears that mine are unrelated.

I have also contacted my ISP about the suhosin settings, and they told me to drop a php.ini file in the folder where my wordpress install is with the settings specified. I did that, but it didn’t change my problem.

    Help/ideas?

I can get up to 34 items on my menu, and then it stops- I can add a ton more, but when I click save menu, it reverts to the top 34 items- it’s almost as if the space you can drag and drop the menu components in is constrained in view or something….

I installed the pagemash plugin to set the page hierarchy of the parent/child pages, which I hadn’t done previously. I wondered if having so many (over 30 pages) all on the same level was giving wordpress a headache with the custom menu.

Pagemash helped me with organizing drop down menus on enabled themes before 3.0 came out with the custom menu functionality, so I thought it would help here.

No dice again- even the with pages organized, I’ve got the same issue- I can only get 32 items in the custom menu to show up, and anything above and beyond gets ignored when I save changes.

C’mon wordpress community… Save my blogging bacon!

So, final question here. I can separate my posts into unique feeds by creating categories for my posts- got that bit.

What I’m curious to know (b/c I haven’t seen this in action anywhere) is whether or not a category of posts show up on a page by themselves, or if they all show up on the front page.

Is it possible to have one page that displays JUST the posts from a certain category?

The feed is nice for people to subscribe to, but if the categorized posts don’t show up on a page where that’s all people see on that page, then categories don’t help me much in terms of visual organization…

Thanks all- appreciate the knowledge sharing!

I don’t want to run multiple installs of WP- just to have multiple pages on my site that people can subscribe to instead of just one. Looks like this categories/tags thing has some promise- anyone know whether a page set up to feature posts from a dedicated category comes with its own RSS feed, and if not, can anyone tell me how to set one up?

dave123, you’re my flipping hero! That was quite possibly the most frustrated I have ever been with WP. Thanks man!
